Frankenweenie ** (the short movie was far better)
Life of Pi ** 1/2 (amazing special effects)
Lincoln *** (Daniel Day-Lewis and Tommy Lee Jones make the movie)
The Rocky Horror Picture Show *** (weird cult movie, extremely entertaining nonetheless)
Django Unchained *** 1/2 (awesome!!!)
Les Miserables (2012) **** (should win the oscar award for best movie in my opinion)
the Black Swan ***
Visually beautiful, Portman was good but I found the story somewhat difficult to engage in. Maybe because I'm not into ballet? And have little sympathy for those who seek perfection, punishing their body and mind in the process.
Skyfall ***
I'm also thinking of changing my rate for the Rocky Horror Picture Show. I'll change it to *** 1/2. It's a unique piece of crazy work. Twisted, masterpiece.
the Road ***
Intense, gripping, realistic post-apocalyptic story. I'd give it more stars except the very end seemed incongruent with the rest of the film. It felt like a Hollywood happy ending tacked onto a dark, gritty, brutal film. I understand that's how the book ends as well but it just felt wrong to me. I'll have to read the book to see if the ending comes across differently on the page.
Great Expectations(2013) ** 1/2
Good acting by Helena Bonham Carter and Ralph Fiennes, but the screenplay couldn't compare to Dickens' book. (Not surprising of course.)
It was my second time watching it. Jason Statham is always awesome. Definitely one of my favorite action flicks! I would definitely see more of the films he has starred in, if they only didn't have so much mature content.
