air on Fox and are DC properties while Disney owns the DC rival Marvel. The idea of Marvel\'s parent company owning Fox\'s production studio has some fans worried about comic book television co-existence.
Fox boss Dana Walden informed critics at the Television Critics Association winter press tour that the merger between Disney and Fox won\'t affect
\'s short term future. The merger will take at least 12-18 months to be official, which leaves renewing or canceling either series still firmly in the hands of the Fox network. So Disney won\'t be canceling either show, but Fox isn\'t showing their hand for next season yet either.
"It\'s a little bit early to be talking about that, we\'re very happy with the creative right now." Walden said. "But we don\'t have anything to announce."
Translation: The network will make a firm decision about renewals closer to May when it has a better idea of how many new shows it is going to pick up for the fall and it begins planning its 2018-19 TV schedule.
If the DC based shows survive the annual renewal/cancellation season, fans still shouldn\'t be worried about Disney taking over. The Mickey Mouse company is only buying Fox Studios — the production side of the network. That won\'t affect shows being made by Warner Bros. (which
are). Plus, the series are already sharing air time with
— which is co-owned by Marvel. So there\'s definitely room for both comic book families on one network. Can\'t we all get along?
