“Not Lenny!”: Lena Dunham Announces Lenny Books, a New Publishing Imprint

Girls showrunning team of Dunham and Jenni Konner are developing their Lenny Letter into a bigger operation.

On April 17, the penultimate season of Girls will have its finale, and we’ll be one step closer to finding out what the future holds for Lena Dunham. There’s another HBO series in the works, but in the wake of her popular Lenny newsletter, it appears that Dunham will be upping the ante of her literary focus.

Announced today, the “Lenny” brand—a combination of the minds (and names) of Lena Dunham and Jenni Konner—is being expanded into a full-on imprint, to live under the umbrella of Random House, who put out Dunham’s book, Not That Kind of Girl.

In a statement to BuzzFeed, Dunham explained the imprint as an open-ended outlet for her and Konner’s love of long-form reading:

While we love our home on the internet, Jenni and I are both voracious readers (of books and book reviews) who are constantly trading titles and allowing them to stir us creatively. Our friendship often doubles as a book club. We feel like the Lenny voice lends itself to a diverse list of authors and we are so excited to work with Random House—they get our mission completely. Lenny books will aspire to push the ball forward on the issues that matter to our audience, with wit and style. We hope to see them sticking out of purses and riding public transportation everywhere.

As yet, there are no titles or authors selected, but you’d have to imagine that the Lenny Letter would be the place to find out. Whenever you’re ready, Lena.
