Why did America change Philosopher's Stone to Sorcerer' Stone?

I heard somewhere that America felt offended によって the term "philosopher"... that can't be true can it?

I'm actually not completely sure, but in the United States, the term philosopher has absolutely no magical references. It is merely a person who is rational and thoughtful (or someone who studies philosophy at a secondary school). Doesn't it have a possible magical meaning in the U.K?

Philosopher just wouldn't make sense, at least in the U.S., because the term doesn't imply anything magical. Sorcerer is a much もっと見る appropriate term.

Hmm... "Philosopher" wouldn't make sense at all but "philosopher's stone" does makes sense, which refers to an imaginary stone, substance, または chemical preparation believed to have the power of transmuting baser metals into ゴールド and sought によって alchemists. That's what dictionaries say.;)

In answer to your query, kateliness, the "philosopher's stone" is a legend in Europe... a legend that I don't think many Americans know about. The philosopher's stone wasn't invented によって JK Rowling, but によって alchemists (or would-be alchemists) searching for a means of prolonging life and creating infinite wealth for one's self. Hence, the relevance of the philosopher's stone title. However, there is no such thing as a "sorcerer's stone" in any mythology that I am aware of.

Forgive me for answering a 質問 with a question, but do あなた know anyone who doesn't like the term philosopher. I mean, we usually copy off some of the 名言・格言 they made for school and stuff...But I didn't know they called it something else in the other versions...Hmmmm...
