Amidst a heated ディベート between theater owners and movie studios over upcoming video-on-demand opportunities, the highly anticipated finale to the Harry Potter series stands to be caught in the cross-fire. Theater owners threaten to pull the film from theaters if current VOD plans are not changed.

The National Association of Theater Owners (NATO) has its sights set on the magical movie as the first causality in a war with four of the major film studios. The offending foursome include Universal, Sony, Warner Bros., and Fox, all of whom plan to begin streaming their films right into the living rooms of potential moviegoers. The ordeal began last 月 when Ed Helms' Cedar Rapids was available via VOD just a few weeks after it was released in theaters.

The planned VOD releases add to the troubles of theaters, who have been struggling with decreasing theater time for 映画 that get rushed to ホーム video after being released. Studios claim that the minimum four-month wait between release into theaters and DVD & Blu-Ray hitting the shelves is much too long and greatly effects ホーム video sales.

Staying above the fray are Paramount and Disney, the last two of the "Big 6" movie studios, who have not announced VOD plans at this time. The two stand to profit from a showdown between theaters and the other studios, with both of the movie moguls adding to the stacked movie slate this summer.

My 秒 reaction was - I'll see it when I see it. Either によって watching it on demand, または in theaters.

But maybe I'm not hardcore like some people. To be honest, it might even be cheaper to watch it on demand.

Yeah, sucks for me too. Especially cause i live in NY and companies like that mostly happen in the big cities, so i bet もっと見る theaters are gonna be boycotting it near where i live :(

There's a magic in a theater and a big screen. Image and sound are not the same as at ホーム - of course. They're going to kill the industry that way. When I think they are the same lot complaining about some countries that do their best to protect their own movie industries (like in France) !

20 years 前 または so, 映画 used to remain on screen for about 2 または 3 months. あなた had plenty of time to go and watch them. Now, barely 1 または 2 weeks, 1 月 for the most successful. In the future, nothing shall be left if these finance people are left to their own device. Grrrr...

Agreed. It's really sad how things have gone down hill. Also, I agree with how it's not the same at ホーム as it is in teh theater. I 愛 goin to the midnight openings. They're so fun and full of energy.

Well then that was one REALLY BAD...HORRIBLE...AWEFUL PRANK/JOKE. It was on a Harry Potter news network-they dont just post anything, and it was on the internet for a couple of days. あなた probably cant find it now. Let us all hope. The stupid theaters got whatever they wanted.

I didnt write this. I copied and pasted the news. But as I 発言しました above. Lets hope their dispute is OVER. Otherwise I agree. There will be torches and flying knives at my theater if they dont 表示する it. HP angry MOB would be really scary.
