12 Disney Princesses Sorted Into Hogwarts Houses
Wouldn’t it be a childhood dream come true if there was actually a
/Disney Princess mashup? I mean, seriously. How amazing would it be to see Belle as the studious bookworm who knows her magic, Merida as the brave daredevil, or Jasmine as the badass, competitive queen bee? Or even better, how awesome would it be to see them all sorted into the Hogwarts houses? To be honest, just the thought is getting me way too excited.
and I grew up on Disney classics, I figured that it would be really interesting to reimagine the princesses as Hogwarts students. While some of them were pretty easy to sort right away, others were much harder, because some of these princesses have a wide variety of qualities that aren’t mutually exclusive. I know all too well how hard it can be to put a label on complex characters, but even the most complicated Disney princesses can be sorted, depending on what their best qualities are and what they value most.
Check out which houses these 12 Disney princesses would be sorted into if they attended the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.
“Brave” is Merida’s middle name. She can be super stubborn, reckless, and impulsive, but these are the very qualities that make her such a perfect fit for Gryffindor. She likes to stay in control of her own life and make her own decisions. She’s very rebellious, she’s strong-willed, and she has the courage to stand up for herself.
Mulan literally disguised herself as a man and took her father’s place in the army so that she could protect him and fight for her country. That in itself is the definition of bravery. But another thing that would make her fit so well into Gryffindor is her determination. To see how she grew from an ordinary, awkward girl to a fierce fighter was just amazing.
Pocahontas is gentle, kind, and very noble. In fact, of all the Disney princesses, she is probably one of the most mature. But at the same time, she is adventurous and brave. She stood up to her father and the rest of her people to boldly declare her love for the one person who was supposed to be their enemy. And need I mention how she flung herself into harm’s way when her own father tried to strike John Smith? Now THAT took guts.
Ariel comes off as a kind sweetheart, but that niceness doesn’t take away from the fact that she is also a brave and rebellious free spirit. She went against her father’s wishes several times, and she was also courageous enough to leave the safety of her home to become a human. And just like the typical Gryffindor, Ariel is quite reckless. She’s quick to jump into things head-on without really considering the consequences.
Snow White is kind and generous to a fault. She’s so innocent and sweet that she sometimes comes off as a little child, but some of her stronger qualities, including her optimism, her loyalty to the dwarves, and her patience, makes her the perfect match for the House of Hufflepuff
Considering the fact that Aurora was asleep during most of In Sleeping Beauty, it’s harder to pinpoint her personality or thoroughly assess her. But judging from her actions while she was awake, she’s sweet, kind, and a hopeless romantic. She also seems eager to please when she interacts with people, so she’s a good fit for Hufflepuff.
Rapunzel was a bit harder to place than the others, because while she definitely has the qualities of a Gryffindor (fierce, brace, sometimes impulsive), she’s also warm, loving, loyal, kind, and hard-working. All of these traits aren’y mutually exclusive, so chances are, she could very well end up in Gryffindor. But I feel like she’s a better fit for Hufflepuff because those values tend to show more.
Tiana is another complex character who could literally get away with being sorted into any of the Hogwarts houses. She has the kindness and patience of a Hufflepuff, the boldness and bravery of a Gryffindor, the quick wit and intelligence of a Ravenclaw and the ambition of a Slytherin. But in my opinion, the one quality that outshine the rest is her thirst for knowledge. She is always eager to learn more and improve herself.
Belle reminds me so much of Hermoine! She loves to read, she’s wise beyond her years, she has a constant thirst for knowledge, and she’s known to have a very active imagination. These traits can cause her to seem like the standoffish outcast who thinks that she knows better than everyone else, and she doesn’t have many friends. So basically, Belle has “Ravenclaw” written all over her.
She can be very critical and often perceptive. Her wisdom showed when she tried to advise her sister against marrying a man she didn’t know. And from the moment she truly understood the dangers of her powers, she chose to isolate herself for everyone else’s safety. She tends to follow her conscience more often than she does her heart, so I’d say she’s a perfect fit for Ravenclaw.
This one might come as a major surprise, since Cinderella is so sweet, obedient, and hard-working. But consider this: All her life, Cinderella has been in the company of self-absorbed and wicked people. She was cooped up in a home and overworked because of her lazy, evil step mother and step sisters. Constantly going through that kind of torture
must have hardened her heart a little. And also, she is diligent, determined and a bit selfish. When she rides off with her new prince, she thinks nothing of her stepmother or stepsisters. So, Slytherin all the way!
Jasmine is outspoken and free-spirited. But what makes her such a perfect fit for Slytherin is her ability to get what she wants by any means necessary. She has the wealth and power to live a very comfortable and lavish life, but she wants more than that. She’s not afraid to embark on an adventure to find what she’s really missing. And this takes bravery, which is a Gryffindor quality.
, at the same time, she is overly ambitious and she can be manipulative, which makes her a perfect fit for Slytherin.
