Okay, here goes. I've never formed lists on this before...
Princesses:
1. Rapunzel (Do I need to say more? She is just the cookie-cutter princess to me)
2. Aurora (She doesn't do anything, yet is virtually loved by a ton of people)
3. Jasmine (I just think that considering how her role in her movie is smaller compared to the other princesses on here, she does get a lot of attention for it. She is one of the more popular princesses, but she does have her fair share of haters.)
4. Belle (I admit, she can be overrated. But, she is loved because of how unique of a heroine she is. So...it's a toss up on this one.)
5. Ariel (Okay, on one hand, she can be overrated. However, I do not see her as overrated because she revolutionized the Disney heroine format. Without her, Belle, Jasmine, and other revolutionary heroines would not have come into play.)
6. Mulan (No one dislikes Mulan, but I don't see her fangirled over. She gets a good amount of attention, I think.)
7. Cinderella (While she has gained more attention on this spot, I do not think she is overrated. I think she gets a good amount of attention. She is often criticized for being passive, which I find debatable.)
8. Snow White (So many people attack her because of her voice, and how old fashioned she is. It's pretty sad.)
9. Tiana (Because she is less fun to other users. This is disappointing, actually, because she is a very good, realistic character.)
10. Pocahontas (Oh man, definitely. She has to be the most neglected princess by Disney, ever. It's depressing because she is an excellent character and can be an excellent role model, raising awareness for the environment and all.)
Princes:
1. Flynn (Many people on here are fangirling over him and consider him an amazing character. I don't think he is all that, honestly. :/
2. Phillip (Seriously, what is it that he does that is so flipping amazing? Nothing! All of the fairies do the heroics. -_- They softened the spell, they hid Aurora, they rescued Phillip from the dungeon, and they enchanted the sword! All Phillip does is swing his sword around! Quite lame, actually.)
3. Eric (Although I do love Eric, he is overrated. He is loved a lot by Fanpoppers, but he is not as developed as the later princes.)
4. Naveen (Because people consider him really attractive. He has a unique personality and he is attractive yes, but MAN, before Flynn arrived, there was a MAJOR Naveen fever going on.)
5. Aladdin (Yes, Aladdin can be overrated. But, you have to give him credit because he is the first prince who is either not generic, or needed to be saved from a princess. He makes mistakes and is human because of this, such as being afraid to free Genie from the lamp. Plus, he is rather badass because he lies, he steals...he is clearly not perfect.)
6. Beast (He can be overrated, but he revolutionized the princes. For once we don't see a kind, singing prince; he was introduced as an asshole. Then, as the movie progresses, he changes from a wild animal into a man, and Gaston changing from a man to a barbarian. It is so fascinating to watch on screen.)
7. John Smith (He's more appreciated than the classic princes, but as a whole, he still does not get as much attention.)
8. Charming (I think he has a *little* more attention than Prince, but he is terribly underrated still.)
9. Prince (Definitely underrated. He saved his princess and was completely dedicated and loving. Plus, he is amazing at singing!)
10. Shang (With all seriousness, I think he is so underrated. He plays a bigger role than the earlier princes and is an amazing singer, but he is often pushed to the side because of how serious he is. It is really sad because he is such an amazing character.)

@milky-way: I agree with you. Many of the princes are underrated no matter what, because it's all about "Disney Princess". My prince list would be:

Maybe I need to look for his fans somewhere other than Fanpop.)

He's handsome, he brought happiness to a young woman's depressing life, he chose HER out of thousands of girls. And in his own way, he did try to find Cinderella after she ran away. Why doesn't anyone like this prince? Sure, he's just my third or second favorite, but I still consider that extremely high on my list. Until I joined Fanpop, I NEVER suspected that he was hated so much. :/)
Well, there's my two cents! That list may change soon, but I don't care. xD As for the princess list, I'll have to think about that for a while.

But they have a personality that you come to love and cherish. Anyways I hope this is the best I can do on this for now.

I don't know if I want to participate in this countdown. Just because a character is popular doesn't mean that it's overrated. I commented on the "overrated prince" pick with an explanation but I'll post it here too.
I don't like answering questions of overrated/underrated princesses, because in my opinion they're ALL well-developed characters that serve as good role models and there's no basis for any of them (this goes for the princesses too) to be overrated and underrated. I think people tend to use the word "overrated" and "underrated". Just because something is very popular doesn't automatically make it overrated. People have different views on things and may see something in a prince others don't. It also goes on your personal background too. I think better words to use are "overappreciated" and "underappreciated" because they don't say that a character is bad, just more loved than others.
@princesslullaby: I agree, but not completely. Have you seen all the fanarts and video tributes and all kinds of other stuff about Tangled and Flynn Rider? It's annoying!

Well, i agree Tangled is overrated. one girl one facebook wrote it's the best Disney movie ever and I nearly choked. But I don't really think any other princess or prince is overrated. Maybe Naveen and Aurora
