I went in with pretty high expectations for The Princess and the Frog, and still loved it despite its flaws. I could tell Disney TRIED to recapture the old Disney magic while updating the fairy tale for modern audiences, even if they didn't execute it perfectly.

I went in with pretty high expectations for Brave, but was really disappointed in it because the flaws were the opposite of what the ads promised. (When you promise a grand adventure with lots of magic, mysticism and sweeping stakes, a small mother/daughter conflict with lots of slapstick isn't the best thing to deliver.)

I went in with ROCK BOTTOM expectations for Frozen, was pleasantly surprised by how good it was. I still don't love it, but I liked it better than I thought I would.

Well, I'm just not in love with any of the Revival Era movies. They seem to not get the formula from the Renaissance right. Really. The story and full characterization of the prominent players matters more than the songs, the special effects, and the jokes. The only Revival Era movie that was actually halfway decent about the story and the characterization was Tangled. TPATF, Brave, and Frozen lack a lot of things. Mainly, the magic. It's gone.

But it's my least favorite DP Movie
