I see her manipulate Jafar into being distracted and Aladdin into revealing about Abu, so she's certainly got a brain. Also picking up on new tricks. However, not figuring out that her father is being hypnotized when its right in front of her eyes really irks me. Maybe I'd put her at #5. I can be convinced to put her higher, though.

1) All she had to do from the get go was talk to her father about changing the law. And really, would he deny her more freedom? He loves her to death!
2) Otherwise, she could have just searched for loopholes instead of running away.

^I won't fault her for not figuring out loopholes, that more has to do with determination and patience, she was fed up with living in the palace, not just forced marriage. And I think she really thought he wouldn't change the law because he kept pressuring her. Jasmine does so many smart things but not recognizing the staff really bugs me. Also, her blindly repeatedly taking Aladdin back isn't that smart, but that's my own personal bias.

^But she doesn't even consider the possibility of loopholes. If she were THAT smart, she would sit and study the law, because she's too sheltered to live in her own. I still think she should have talked to the Sultan about changing the law and giving her more freedom. Again, if she were THAT smart, she would at least have attempted a dialogue and would know how to manipulate her father as well as she does with Aladdin or Jafar.

I don't judge her on not noticing her father is being hypnotized because I don't think we ever see her witnessing it, though the strange behavior should have probably kept her alert.

She is quick-thinking under pressure (such as in the marketplace, when she is pretending to be in love with Jafar) and I thought it was smart the way she tricked Aladdin into talking about Abu. The hypnotising thing doesn't bother me, she didn't have much time to figure it out before Aladdin pointed it out anyway.

I think she's very intelligent and resourceful. As she points out, she's a fast-learner, catches onto many of Aladdin's schemes, and adapts rather well to her new situations and surroundings. (The market, the magic carpet ride, Jafar's palace, etc.)

Unfortunately, she doesn't really get a chance to shine since the movie's about Aladdin and his resourcefulness. He's had a lifetime and more situations in the film to use his wits, whereas she spends most of her time in the palace where using her cleverness isn't required.

She is a street smart. She also admits herself a fast learner. Yes, she has some intelligent scene but she has some stupid moments too such as when she's trapped in a gigantic hour glass, for the example.
