A happy ending is just happy, a perfect ending suits the character in a way it might not suit others.
For example, winding up with no love interest at the end is just perfect for Merida since she really is not ready and doesn't want one, while that same ending might not work for most other Disney princesses that fell in love.
In my opinion, Pocahontas had a perfect ending, althought it was not a happy one. That way she could get with John Rolfe. :3 Hehe, also what Tygers_Eye said.
I firmly believe that characters shouldn't get perfect endings, because there are no perfect endings in this life. They should get happy endings. Merida got a perfect ending. Just like Bella Swan, in the end everything for Merida is back to normal, and worked out perfectly
