But HSM was even worse. Seriously, it was painful to watch. Even if the actors could sing or act, I'd hate it for the image it gives theater people. Plus, super smart geeks do not go out with stupid jocks. Ever. Super smart geeks are too busy plotting to rule the world. I speak from personal experience here.

Well, they were both overrated, but Twilight was WAAAY overrated and HSM was actually okay. I loved the songs, at least. :)

the theme tune music for twilight was pretty awful too- just add some lyrics half as cheesy as anything from the movie and twilight would be TWINS with high school musical

Yeah, same thing. Lucas Grabeel is actually in High School Musical. I Kissed a Vampire is a vampire musical with a person from High School Musical. While comedic, it does kind of take itself seriously. As I Kissed a Vampire and Twilight are different genres, the exact quality is hard to compare. I do think I Kissed a Vampire is the closest to High School Musical you'll come to in the vampire genre.

Okay, I know what HSM is, but I've never seen it.

I actually liked HSM. Gabriella was a very good role model, as were Taylor, Martha, and Kelsi. They were all very sure of what they wanted, and fought to get it. You could even look up to Sharpay to a certain extent: eventually, she realized that she had a good guy waiting for her - Zeke - and gave up her spotlight at the end of HSM2 and HSM3 pretty readily, knowing it wasn't hers to take at that moment.
Troy is an amazing boyfriend who sticks by his girlfriend through thick and thin. Chad and Jason are slow, but even when they do bad things, they mean well. Zeke sweetly and patiently waits for Sharpay to realize he is perfect for her, and tends to be a calm voice to other boys.
Twilight...well, being a Twilight hater, I'm sure you all know the opinion I have of those characters.
The HSM people have good traits, admirable ones, and I really can't think of a Twilight character I actually like, except Charlie.

Musicals are always cheesy. Sometimes in a charismatic cheesy way and sometimes well in a cheesy cheesy way. But vampire movies doesn´t have to be cheesy and thanks to Twilight the picture of Vampires is now cheesy!

I always viewed Twilight as a failed attempt at a Disney Princess movie, but I can see it as a Vampire version of HSM.

HSM is a cute. I'd totally recommend it to a 10 year old girl. Twilight...no .__.

I don't have a problem with HSM now and it is a cute movie, especially because it was done by Kenny Ortega, who did Hocus Pocus, which I love. I don't like Twilight as much now as I used to, so I'm going to go counter to my 13-14 year old self and say I like HSM more than Twilight.
