The only books that I've really wanted the Hardback versions were (can you guess it?) the Harry Potters. The cover art is fantastic. Otherwise I vastly prefer having a paperback book; it is easier and lighter to carry in my bag.

I like the hardcover better, I really dont know why...I own so many of them because I tend to buy books when they are first released, but if they are available in paperback that is what I buy because it is a little cheaper.

Paperbacks have so much more personality. I buy a lot of books, but I pretty much only buy used, and used paperbacks, because they're less sturdy, show so much more about their previous readers. Plus fun cover art with no annoying dustcover. And paperbacks take up less space, so you have space for more!

I buy both -- I don't judge a book by its cover ;) But I prefer paperbacks in most cases because I like to have bring a book with me wherever I go and hardbacks are just too heavy to carry.

I buy both, but I love the look of hardcover. They last longer without damage. I have accidentally ruined some of my old paperbacks... they just got fragile. I also love how in old libraries (in movies etc), they just have shelves and shelves of hardcover books. I want I library like that when I get older.

They are lighter in my handbag and plus they show alot of character. You can tell how many times it has been read and if it was enjoyed, whenever i borrow a book of a friend you can tell where she got really into the book because she bends the book in a different way, i think everyone does it and its really interesting to note!

I like both. Paperbacks are better to bring to school because of their light weight, but they do tend to fall apart easier. However, if you can take care of them, it shouldn't be a problem.

I like hardbacks just for the sake of them being nicer, and they are usually the original way of publishing, turning into paperback some time later. Thee cost more, though, and that's a downer.
