Avenged Sevenfold have released an awesome video of their first live performance in over a year.
The metal titans played a free gig at First Avenue in the States on August 18 and introduced new drummer Brooks Wackerman – who has taken over following
Arin Illejay’s departure back in July last year.
The show served as a warm-up for A7X before their opening slot with Metallica at U.S. Bank Stadium tonight (August 20). Not a bad way to welcome their new member into the band, eh?
Check out the footage below, and let us know what you think the comments!

From Warped Tour to Wembley, Avenged Sevenfold have covered a lot of ground since their inception in \'99. And, in that time, the Huntington Beach metalcore-turned-metal titans have given us some of the most impressive and memorable shows we\'ve ever seen. So, while M. Shadows and co. take some well-earned time off after finishing up their Hail To The King album cycle, we thought we\'d reminisce over some of the bands\' most awesome times up on stage.
(Spoiler alert: Contains pyro, floating deathbats and a killer Pantera cover)
Let\'s kick this off with a bang, shall we? Anyone else get goosebumps after hearing thousands of Brazilians screaming "NIIIIIGHTMAAAAAARE!" at the top of their lungs at the beginning of this clip? Yep, exactly. Absolutely colossal.
Okay, so technically this isn\'t live in, like,
real life terms... But any excuse to post it. The group proved that they can shred hard even in digital form, performing in Club Solar alongside characters Woods and Menendez, as part of a special sequence in Black Ops 2. Yep.
How do you warm up for the Kerrang! Awards - one of the biggest parties of the year? Well, if you\'re Avenged, you take part in our Week Of Rock, and invite a certain Matt Tuck from Bullet For My Valentine up on stage to cover Pantera and NOFX with you. And then you go and win and three Kerrang! Awards the following night. Sure.
A7X joined heavy metal heroes Iron Maiden as special guests on the Somewhere Back In Time Euro dates, putting themselves through their paces by sharing a stage with one of the greatest bands on the planet. It ruled, and it undoubtedly prepared Sevenfold for the huge headline shows of their own that were to come...
The Huntington Beach crew were the 2006 Ozzfest\'s \'Mystery band\' - joining the likes of System Of A Down, Disturbed and Hatebreed, completing one very solid line-up. City Of Evil had been released the year prior, so the band\'s setlist was mighty strong - and it also included their now-infamous Pantera cover. RE-SPECT!
In The Rev\'s final live performance before his death, Avenged Sevenfold closed off the second stage of Knebworth\'s Sonisphere Festival in 2009, right before Metallica headlined. That\'s a pretty big deal, no? Avenged were on blistering form, too - as we\'ve so often come to expect from them.
Okay, maybe this isn\'t quite as grand as anything else on the list, but Avenged Sevenfold have always managed to cause a pandemoinum - even on tiny Warped Tour stages over 10 years ago. A decade-plus of performing has made a world of difference, but they\'ve always been naturals. And this video proves it.
this was one hell of a bill. A7X embarked on a co-headline tour of the UK with the mighty Stone Sour in winter of 2010, battling it out with Corey Taylor and co. to upstage each other every night. With Dream Theater\'s Mike Portnoy taking place behind the kit, and a set peppered with tributes to The Rev - Avenged were on fiery form. Ooooft.
Stopping through Europe on their Welcome To The Family Tour (following the release of Nightmare), Avenged hit up festivals in the UK, Europe and more to prove that they were ready for the big-time. These three huge circle pits they\'ve got going on at Germany\'s Rock Am Ring this clip speak pretty loudly, don\'t they?
Lots of bands have toured the globe - playing countries far and wide across the world. But very few have played for men and women in the military in Iraq and Kuwait - and that\'s exactly what Avenged Sevenfold did in 2011. With Mike Portnoy still filling in on drums, and some huge metal fans in the audience, it was very, very special.
Avenged Sevenfold prepared for their scheduled Download headline appearance just six months later with a huge UK arena tour, tackling London\'s Wembley Arena with Five Finger Death Punch. A huuuuge floating deathbat? Check. A brand-new album (Hail To The King) with arena-sized metal anthems to unleash? Check.
A year after releasing their self-titled \'White Album\', A7X headlined the Taste Of Chaos tour throughout the States with Bullet For My Valentine, Atreyu and more. BADASS! To top it all off, they recorded a live DVD during their hometown show - and it\'s a must-watch for any Avenged fan. They made playing for huge crowds look look
Yep, it\'d be wrong to not make this number one. Avenged made their Download headline debut in 2014 - But did they crumble under the pressure? Did they heck. Shadows and co. matched up to their heroes in the likes of Metallica and Iron Maiden on Donington turf on that Friday night, and it was epic. Just epic.
