バットマン is one of the most 人気 fictional ヒーローズ of all time. Because of this, people have different opinions on how the バットマン character should be written and represented as. This 記事 is about my personal opinions about how バットマン should be written.
In order to do this, I'm using one particular writer as an example of good writing, while using a different writer as an example of how バットマン should never be written as.
The Right Way To Write Batman:
In the past, I have gone into great detail about why Bill Finger is the true creator of Batman. However, I believe that Bill Finger is もっと見る than just the creator. I also believe he was Batman's best writer. I don't see many, if any, バットマン ファン calling Bill Finger one of the best バットマン writers, but I genuinely believe he's earned that title.
In 1939, Batman's first year, Bill Finger and Bob Kane were still figuring out the details of Batman's life. In the first batch of comics, バットマン was もっと見る of an anti-hero who carried around a gun. However, in the early 40's, I believe Bill Finger re-invented バットマン for the better. He made バットマン a character who was against killing. The バットマン character was made into less of an anti-hero and もっと見る into a traditional hero. This was because the バットマン comics were becoming 人気 with kids, but it was also because of Bill Finger's morality.
I believe that Bill Finger was the ハート, 心 and soul of the バットマン franchise. He gave バットマン the morals, the compassion and the optimism that superheroes should have. When I was re-reading バットマン comics from the 1940's, something that stood out to me was the way バットマン was written. スーパーマン is often considered to be the symbol of hope and he absolutely is, but Bill Finger's バットマン was a inspiring hero in his own right. He was a warm, loving father figure to Robin, a friend to those in peril and a role model for the kids 読書 the comics. He was someone who was disgusted によって the greed and cruelty of his enemies, but he would try to save them rather than getting rid of them.
Bill Finger's バットマン is what inspired a lot of elements in the 60's show. Adam West's バットマン was infamous for being campy. However, Adam West did an excellent job at capturing the ハート, 心 and morality of Bill Finger's Batman. Bill Finger's 書く was often over-the-top, but あなた know what? That's not a bad thing. Bill Finger created some of the most colorful, entertaining characters in all of comics. I 愛 his creativity, imagination and passion. Bill Finger never received the proper credit for creating バットマン during his lifetime, yet he still kept his morality. He was one of the most humble people to ever work in comics. His ハート, 心 and compassion continues to inspire me. In my eyes, Bill Finger is the true hero behind Batman's cowl. Gotham City couldn't of asked for a better creator than Bill Finger.
The Wrong Way To Write Batman:
It's hard to talk about Batman's history without bringing up Frank Miller. In the 1980's and 1990's, it could be argued that Frank Miller was the most beloved writers in comics history. He re-invented Marvel's Daredevil and the wrote the critically-acclaimed Sin City. He also wrote two of the most beloved バットマン stories of all time: The Dark Knight Returns and 年 One.
I want to be as fair as I can, so I will say some things about Frank Miller that I like. He's a writer who has a distinct vision and a very special style. Batman: 年 One was a story that gave もっと見る character development to Jim Gordon. He made Gordon an undeniably important friend to Batman. He had Gordon もっと見る than just the guy who turned on the Bat Signal. Frank Miller created Carmine Falcone, a great adversary to Batman, Gordon, Catwoman and Two-Face. 年 One is a story that I have some problems with, like Gordon cheating on his wife and Catwoman being a prostitute, but it does have elements that I like and respect.
The Dark Knight Returns is arguably the most beloved バットマン story of all time, but frankly, I'm not a huge ファン of it. It's certainly a creative and memorable story, but the story is too grim and dour for my tastes. I'm not a ファン of the Joker being made into a disturbing murderer who acts like his rivalry with バットマン is like a romantic relationship.
Frank Miller is responsible for 書く All-Star バットマン and Robin: The Boy Wonder. I'm someone who has read several バットマン comics and has seen a countless amount of バットマン shows and films. Out of everything I've ever seen, All-Star バットマン and Robin is the most offensive バットマン story I've ever read. The story does have two good elements: The artwork was done によって Jim Lee, one of the best バットマン artists of all time. His drawings are incredibly detailed and beautiful. Also, there are parts of the story that are hilariously weird.
However, that doesn't change the fact that All-Star バットマン and Robin is an offensive piece of work. I felt dirty for 読書 such a thing. You're probably wondering what's so bad about the story. Well, Frank Miller provided his own take on バットマン and Robin's partnership. Instead of Bruce Wayne adopting Dick Grayson, バットマン kidnaps Dick Grayson, forces him to live in the Batcave and acts like a harsh, strict jerk to him.
There's so many things wrong with All-Star バットマン and Robin. An excellent YouTuber, named Linkara, did an excellent job at pointing out the story's many mistakes.
I believe that 表示中 some of All-Star バットマン and Robin's worst dialogue will prove how bad it really is:
バットマン (talking to Dick Grayson): "What, are あなた dense? Are あなた retarded または something? Who the hell do あなた think I am? I'm the Goddamn Batman."
Batman: "My world. Welcome to my world, Dick Grayson. Bats and rats and warts and all. あなた poor little boy. あなた poor little bastard. Welcome to Hell. Hell. または the 次 best thing."
バットマン (talking to a criminal he tortured): "Your condition is permanent. You're never going to get any better. Welcome to Hell."
バットマン (talking about Green Lantern): "I've got a retarded demigod to deal with. What a damn idiot. He's worse than Kent." (Kent meaning Superman, because Frank Miller's バットマン stories constantly mock Superman.)
Overall, I believe that Bill Finger's バットマン shows what the バットマン character truly stands for: Compassion, optimism, justice and love. My アドバイス to future バットマン writers is to seek Bill Finger's バットマン for inspiration. Also, I strongly recommend avoiding the mistakes of All-Star バットマン and Robin. The バットマン in that story is a messed up fiend. The real バットマン is a true hero. My hope is that DC remembers that.
