I remember when Taemin debuted. This scrawny little kid with a bowl cut who could barely hold a note at all, and now look at him. It's amazing.

Taemin really has come so far though. I had to pause when I heard him hitting high notes for the first time. So talented ~

I would want it to be Jonghyun tbh. SHINee's music holds him back so much vocally to most of their poppy songs and he only really gets to shine(e) on a few tracks on some albums. Taemin has improved, yeah, but I don't think he deserves a solo just yet. But oh well, I won't be listening for this debut at all.

I honestly didn't. I can't see Jonghyun wanting to do a solo that is produced, choreographed, etc. by SM. The things he has done outside of SHINee give me a kind of k-indie vibe from him. I don't know if he'd want to do pop music for a solo, you know?

same, but maybe he's next. one solo doesn't rule out others. honestly it's nice seeing sm more of their acts solos and i hope they continue. promoting alongside groups isn't a bad idea, it's nice side revenue and chance for in house talent to shine

Jonghyun has been doing a lot of things and he had sm the ballad earlier in the year. honestly i'm jonghyun biased think it's understandable that it's taemin.

Wtf....I would love to see Tiffany on stage. She seems so passionate about her singing and she improved so much from her debut days. Her & Yuri's solos I'm looking forward to, just because I think they'll bring something different to the table

Taemin deserves this. I'm a Jonghyun fan myself, but i dont expect a jjong debut solo just bcoz he is the lead vocalist of SHINee. Jjong has SM The Ballad, his own radio show now as a dj + composing his own songs that we get to hear. Its not bad at all to hv Taemin solo debut, instead i anticipate this so much ! >w<)b

p/s : The hyungs must be so proud of him. I bet Jjong will be fanboying Taemin on his twitter later LOL

More like they need to have artists active in order to hit quarterly earnings projections. If they have a girl group stop mid-promotion, the lost revenue has to be made up elsewhere.

I hope his comeback brings us something good i feel like sm this year has been a mess with everything

I don't think that's the case with this solo. Taemin having a solo has been a rumor that's be floating around for a few months.

Barely anyone under SM has had a real solo debut except Henry and now Taemin (OSTs aren't real solos)

No one in SHINee has gone solo only participated in sub units ( Sm the ballad, Toheart , Sm the performance/ Henry collab )

nah. which is the weird thing b/c his voice is perfect for the type of ballads that Korea likes. He could totally be doing a sung shi kyung/kim yeon woo type of solo album yet.. we've got nothing.

I am very happy for Taemin! I am curious what the song will be like. I am also wondering if SHINee will still have a Korean comeback or not this year. From late September until mid-December they are going to be touring in Japan and doing SMTOWN concerts, not to mention their solo activities. The last quarter of the year will be jammed packed!

Onew has done a few solo OST tracks but nothing beyond that. He had vocal surgery earlier this year so he wouldn't have been able to do it anyway. If he does go solo though I pray to the gods he does a trot album.

Still to drop it now with the new sudden girl group debut its obviouse that sm is trying to divert everyones attention away from sulli and the fx issue

I agree but as long as he's with sm they're going to have some input. Earlier this year he was working with Teddy Riley and i'm curious as to what that's for .

Jonghyun has said time and time again that he's not interested in promoting music outside of SHINee rn; his current goal is to build an image as a musician through his increasing compositions and Blue Night radio show, and that is what he's doing right now.

Onew has not shown any interest in solo promotions yet, when asked what he wants to do next, he said he wants to branch out into things outside music (variety/acting/musicals etc) and he was well on his goal this year with LOTJ recordings and singing in the rain musical but he had to stop because of his vocal surgery.

Taemin on the other hand has made it very clear that he is interested in solo work. He said things like he wants people to see him "Lee Taemin" not as "SHINee's maknae/main dancer" and he said that he wonders if he could to stand on stage alone without his hyungs and he wants to try.

basically if you've been following SHINee closely, the fact that it's hardly surprising.

for people who are insisting that if Jongyu aren't first then it isn't fair, know this:

1- you are either asking for Jonghyun and Onew to be pressured and rushed into a debut they may not be interested in or ready for at this moment.

2- or you're asking Taemin to wait for Jongyu to take their time until they're ready even though he is ready now and he deserves it too, just like them.

please understand that what you want is not what they want. please understand that deserving doesn't equal wanting (and they are all deserving). please understand that just because you think they're ready, doesn't mean they want to do it now. If they would rather do other stuff, if they would rather wait, let them.

also just because someone says they hoped ___ would get it doesn't mean they're hating on Taemin, so don't get too defensive.
