Rupert Grint is about to be short $1.3 million, after a dispute over his taxes, according to

actor will be forced to pay the hefty fee after a judge ruled that he changed some of his accounting dates to shield his earnings from a high tax rate.

Rupert reportedly followed advice from tax advisers to change his accounting date so that 20 months of income would be taxed in 2009-2010, which would prevent 8 months worth of income from being taxed in the 2010-2011 year, during which the top rate of tax rose from 40% to 50%.

During the hearing, Rupert said that his knowledge of his financial affairs was “quite limited” and “he placed his faith in his father and accountants to deal with his financial affairs.”

We always see this. Celebrities and athletes putting their trust into their fathers and their father’s accountants that they go to. I myself do this and I’m not even a celebrity. I just rely on my dad and his accountant buddy that he’s been with for almost 10 years. Accountants always try to loop hole to save the most money for their clients, so they continue to come back to them. I feel bad for the guy.
