I dont think a concept または feeling または personality trait could be identified as a human.

But taking it into consideration on what I THINK あなた mean, selfishness is a natural trait amongst living creatures. Its a trait of mortal beings, and being we dont really know of an immortal beings, I will keep that statement

Its seen in nature and stems from natural instincts. A lion will kill for its survivor even if it means the death of another. A リス will store as much 食 as it can up so it wont starve. Etc.

Although it is also true that 'altruism' is also a natural thing amongst mortal beings and it is also seen in nature.

Biology/Ecology lesson aside, yes, it is a human trait, but its not nearly exclusively human.

Selfishness is what idiots call it when they don't get a cut from someone else's rational self interest. It's often envious people who accuse others of selfishness.

Obviously, to a certain extent. Selfishness is a word we created to suit a certain trait we recognised in ourselves. I don't think selfishness and survival are necessarily the same things, when あなた consider that 動物 are incapable of conscious thought, therefore the concept is foreign to them. That's part of what makes it a human concept. 動物 simply take what they need for survival, because, for the most part, it is necessary for that. However, I recognise selfishness as being human in the point that we are greedy and want what we don't really need, just because we want it. That's real selfishness, as opposed to 動物 don't even have the capacity to recognise what 'selfishness' または 'survival' actually means.

Also, there is the fact 動物 simply kill, または take food, for the very purpose of living, または not knowing what it actually means to be either of those things. Whereas humans know what selfishness is and just be that way, regardless of how it impacts them, または those around them.

I feel that is the stark difference here. Humans named the trait/concept, recognised it as being negative, または adverse, then people just decided that they didn't care about that anyway, so they never stopped themselves from being that way. Whereas 動物 have no understanding of the concept only do what they do, because it is necessary for survival.

N.b. I realise that there are some 動物 that don't do certains becuase it's necessary for survival, but just because they react to that animalistic instinct. Even so, humans are worse, because they know and don't care.

Selfishness is a common flaw, and in order to be good people we have to have flaws to learn from. Selfishness is in my opinion,'human, because without it people would not be selfless.

If that makes sense
