質問 for any Americans/people who understand the American education system...

Is there something before Kindergarten? Because I was comparing the British and American school system and we have a 年 before what Americans call Kindergarten called Reception. Do Americans have something similar?

As others said, there's headstart and preschool, but those are optional. I didn't go to preschool, but it's becoming もっと見る and もっと見る popular.
Is Reception mandatory または optional in Britain? Just curious, I'd never heard of it before.

before kindergarten is pre school. It can be either be like an actual school, または in my case 日 care. The daycare I went to had a pre school set up to it once あなた were out of the baby and toddler rooms. If あなた go to pre school that's generally one 年 then あなた graduate up to kindergarten and actually start elementary school.

Why have school before school? To get extra smart または to put あなた somewhere while your parents are at work/etc? What is the point of it?

I think it's a mix of getting little kids used to socializing, give them a bit of a head start and, yes, as a form of babysitting while their parents are at work または school または something.
