Is it weird that I've known someone for 3 years and we haven't spoken to each other for that whole time even though we see each other every week?

Not at all. It's completely normal. I have the same situation in my school. There's about twenty people that I've known since grade school and haven't talk to at all. See them almost every 日 in school and I've never talked to them and never plan to, to some of them. Hope that makes sense...:)
