"FIVE LITTLE PIGS" (2003) Review

"FIVE LITTLE PIGS". That is the name of this adaptation of Agatha Christie’s 1942 novel. Who would have thought that a story with a タイトル straight from a nursery rhyme would lead me to view it as one of the best screen adaptations of a Christie novel I have ever seen?

I just gave the game away in the last paragraph, did I? I gave my opinion of "FIVE LITTLE PIGS" right off the bat. My 最近 viewing of "FIVE LITTLE PIGS" made me realize two things – a) it is a well-written and melancholy story with tragic overtones; and b) it is one of the finest Christie...

"PERIL AT END HOUSE" (1990) Review

I just realized something. I have never read Agatha Christie's 1932 novel, "Peril at End House". I find this ironic, considering that I have seen the 1990 テレビ movie adaptation of this novel at least three または four times. One of these days, I will get around to 読書 Christie's novel and comparing it to the テレビ adaptation. Right now, I am going to focus on the latter.

Directed によって Renny Rye and adapted によって Clive Exton, "PERIL AT END HOUSE" is the first full-length テレビ movie aired on "AGATHA CHRISTIE'S POIROT". It is also about Belgian-born...

"MRS. McGINTY'S DEAD" (2008) Review

Since it first aired on television, I must admit that I have paid scant attention to "MRS. McGINTY'S DEAD", ITV's 2008 adaptation of Agatha Christie's 1952 novel. I find this amazing, since the novel has always been a お気に入り of mine. I am not claiming that the 2008 movie is terrible. I was simply distracted によって other matters during my last two viewings. This third viewing proved to be the チャームド〜魔女3姉妹〜 and I finally was able to ascertain the movie's quality.

Unlike its literary source, "MRS. McGINTY'S DEAD" was not set in the early 1950s. Because the television...

As a long time reader of Agatha Christie's novels, I have been well aware of her first novel that was published in 1920, namely "The Mysterious Affair at Styles". I read the novel once. But if I must be honest, I never became a ファン of it.

Due to my lackluster feelings for the novel, it took me a while to watch the テレビ adaptation of it, which aired on ITV's "AGATHA CHRISTIE'S POIROT" back in 1990. But eventually I got around to it and was amazed to discover that it had been the 秒 Christie novel to be adapted as a feature-length film...

A Mrs. Allen was found shot, apparently a suicide, but she was holding the gun that killed her in the wrong hand, and foul play is suspected. The victim was engaged to be married and seemingly had no cause to take her own life.
