Gandalf - I really love how mysterious he is and how noble he seems. He knows a lot, there's no doubt, and he is from the Maiar so he has immense power.

Aragorn - I've always liked how he possessed leadership qualities. He knew where to go and even when Gandalf fell, he continued to head on. He's brave, that's for certain. he took charge of the armies about immediately and he inspired them to continue when no hope was there. His love is very strong - he fought for Arwen, and lived his life trying to do the impossible.

Merry&Pippin - for them both, I liked how they were innocent like children, and they knew nothing of the world and it's troubles. They lived in their own little lives, and even during the first book were still confused. But I like watching them grow up to strong, brave men. Especially in the Scouring of the Shire. They were the ones leading half the army and making most of the plans.

Sam - Sam was so brilliant. I admire his dedication to Frodo - he kept going when he didn't have to and risked his life. He always looked out for Frodo more - sacrificing his own food and sleep just to make sure Frodo was alright. Even when Frodo was in Mordor, it was Sam who did most of the work and carried Frodo to the top of Mt. Doom. He was an amazing friend - someone we wish all of us had.

Frodo - I think many people don't give Frodo that much credit since he did fail and he was miserable half the time, but it took strong will to actually go to Mordor. Frodo resisted for so long and trudged on blindly. He hardly complained about the troubles - and he was facing a lot more than the company since the ring haunted him, demented him until he couldn't think of anything. It's sad, really, and he did deal with it.

Legolas - I might be biased because I like Orlando Bloom in the films, but in the books he was light and cheery. Nothing seemed to bother him, and I like how keen he is.

Gimli - I think many people might believe he's there for comedic purposes, but in the books, although he did argue with Legolas, he was open-minded and didn't mind listening to other's decisions too much. He was funny, but he was also tough and strong.

Boromir - Lots assume he's the "bad guy" and he's the one who was taking the ring away from the good, innocent Frodo. It wasn't Boromir's fault - the ring does that for the very purpose of getting closer to it's master. Since Boromir wanted to go to Minis Tirith, which is only a mountain away from Mordor, the ring would most likely go there. Anyway, Boromir had different ideas and wasn't afraid to voice them, and remained loyal to the hobbits when he died protecting them.

Faramir - I loved Faramir's character, not because he's cute. But it's sad how his father preferred Boromir {the Palantir was corrupting him}. Anyway, Faramir was very, very strong to put up with that, especially when his father said to die and die in a way to make him proud. That's just cruel and sick, and to tell your own son that is horrible. ):
