As Season 5 is approaching us and a major Huddy arc has been announced, many people will be holding thier breath and crossing their fingers as Huddy comes to dominate our screens. Thinking over all of this, as with the touching season finale still fresh on my mind, I thought I would write an 記事 about my beloved ship, Huddy, but I wouldn't be talking about our favourite moments, または how cute they are together または anything あなた would normally find in a crazy Huddy shipper's rant. Instead I thought I would look at House's view, literally his perspective of Cuddy and how it has changed through the seasons and how it has changed our, the viewers', perspective of Cuddy.
The 表示する though very oftenly seems to be omnicient, is very often told through House's point of view. あなた are 与えられた only little snipets of others' lives through House's eyes and have to make similar opinions as to him since what we see is limited によって his perspective. If あなた need evidence of this watch a House and Cuddy scene in either, "Half Wit," または "97 seconds," the camera literally takes on House's eyes as he watches Cuddy's 尻, お尻 移動する out of view. If あなた watch closely in a lot of episodes the camera takes on House's point of view, most obviously when he is checking out Cuddy, but there are other moments. I point this out to prove to あなた that although everyone has thier own opinion of characters, and has the characters they prefer over others, our opinions are often shaped によって House's own opinion of the character and the interactions that character has with House. It is not very often that we see a character when they are not interacting with House, those scenes are rare and precious because in those moments the characters are completely open and 表示する us their true nature which is sometimes obstructed to us because we are seeing PPTH through House's "rosy" colored glasses.
Let me give あなた an example, Tritter. Everyone who watches the show, I realize this is a generalization but I think I'm 安全, 安全です here, hates Tritter. But why do we hate Tritter? We hate Tritter because House hates Tritter, we never see Tritter alone and we never find out what truly drives him, we only see his interactions with House and because those are less than friendly, we are manipulated into hating him.
So in conclusion this 記事 will be focusing on how the House and Cuddy relationship developed over the seasons and how House's change of opinion about Cuddy has influenced our own opinion of Cuddy.
Season 1- Cuddy the pain in the ass
We start season 1 with the writers busily setting up the storyline and the mottos of the show. Season 1 is an exposition to a lot of things in the 表示する and is certaintly an exposition for all of the characters. But since this is an 記事 about Huddy lets focus on that. Cuddy at this point in time is known as House's boss. This タイトル includes all of the following:
Stopping House from doing dangerous procedures
Making House follow protocol
Forcing him to do clinic duty
Making him take cases
Submitting to Vogler and making House's life difficult
Basically having to be the bad guy to keep order in the hospital
Cuddy in season 1 comes off as a bit of a pain in the 尻, お尻 because she constantly has to stop House from doing something and makes his life difficult. We get this impression about her because that's what House sees her as. The viewers understand Cuddy's motives, trying to keep hospital order, patient rights, being the boss, but so often she is made to look like the heartless adminstrator when she picks protocol over House's do anything for the patient attitude. She is often made the foil that allows us to see what is wrong with the medical world. A good example is this conversation:
Cuddy: Guy gives $100 million to cure cancer, pretty small concession to wear a lab coat.
House: Cure cancer. Is the hospital getting out of the dull business of treating patients?
Cuddy: あなた know that’s not what he’s doing.
House: I know exactly what he’s doing. He’s using us to run clinical trials.
Cuddy: Oh, shame on him! Saving lives like that!
House: [entering his office] It’s unethical. [Cuddy follows.] Oh, are あなた coming in, too? I thought I had あなた convinced.
Cuddy: Clinical trials save thousands of lives.
House: He’s using patients as guinea pigs.
Cuddy: Pharmaceutical companies do that every day.
House: Are we a pharmaceutical company? We’re gonna wind up pressuring desperate patients into choices that are bad for them, good for us. You’re gonna compromise patient care.
Cuddy: Who the hell am I talking to? Suddenly ethical lapses are a major concern for you?
House: What’s interesting is it suddenly doesn’t bother you.
Cuddy: So, if あなた ignore ethics to save one person it’s admirable, but if あなた do it to save a thousand you’re a bastard. All he’s done is taken your game and gone pro.
House: He’s not going to kill a few patients. He’s going to kill this hospital.
Control, season 1, episode 14
Their relationship is not all bad though. The first season does set up a certain amount of tension between the two and has small sweet moments like in "The Socratic Method," when Cuddy wanted to give House a card but throws it in the trash instead. Its obvious the tension going on is もっと見る than hatred, as Wilson sees in "Occam's Razor", but most of us deem the House and Cuddy relationship of season 1 as merely a battle of the titans.
Wilson: What’s with あなた and her?
House: Don’t.
Wilson: Do あなた have a thing for her? The only people who can get to あなた –(interupted によって House)
Occam's Razor, season 1, episode 3
But our opinion changes about Cuddy about halfway through the season once her character has been established and the viewers are introduced to a evil far greater than Cuddy, Vogler. When she risks loosing her job for House in a board vote, suddenly our view of Cuddy is boosted, as is House's view of her. From now on Cuddy will be viewed in a different light.
Season 2- Cuddy the intriging enigma
After Cuddy puts her job on the line for House, he and we suddenly find Cuddy a much もっと見る interesting character because it seems she is もっと見る on House's side than we first anticipated. That action suddenly opens up a new fascination in her character and suddenly she appears もっと見る frequently in episodes as House's interest in her grows. The first episode we truly get to know Cuddy in is "Humpty Dumpty" in which we see how Cuddy deals with a personal attachment to a patient and getting back into the groove being a doctor instead of an administrator. The episode shows a lot about her, how she is compassionate and cares about people, this arguement between House and Cuddy for me is legendary, not only because it shows what Cuddy is like but it is so moving:
Cuddy: All of his symptoms are caused によって his underlying problem and the medicine we gave him.
House: What underlying problem? あなた have no idea what the underlying problem is.
Cuddy: You’re the diagnostician.
House: Fine. It’s all my fault. Does that make あなた feel better?
Cuddy: His hand still has an arterial pulse.
House: His hand is a cesspool. And the crap is spreading.
Cuddy: あなた are being pretty aggressive about destroying a man’s livelihood.
House: Don’t give a damn about his livelihood.
Cuddy: He lose that hand, he loses his job. All of his jobs. He’s not like us.
House: He can’t work as a cripple?
[Cuddy is shocked によって that statement, but recovers.]
Cuddy: He loses his home, his kid brother drops out…
House: American dream destroyed. Very sad, very emotional. Not one medical fact in the whole pathetic tale. You’ve ロスト perspective, Cuddy. You’ve stopped looking at this as a doctor. You’re 芝居 like someone who shoved somebody off their roof. あなた want to make things right? Too bad. Nothing’s ever right.
This arguement is a clash between House's objective look at what needs to be done to save Alfredo, the patient, and Cuddy's empathetic understanding of how cutting off his hand will destroy his quality of life, which already sucks. The viewers see for the first time Cuddy 表示中 an emotional strand that normally as an adminstrator she doesn't show. The episode ends in a huddy scene where House analyzes Cuddy's actions ("No もっと見る Mr. Nice Guy" clearly was inspired によって this scene):
House: Cuddy.
[He turns to face Cuddy again.]
House: Your guilt. It’s perverse, and it makes あなた a crappy doctor. It also makes あなた okay at what あなた do.
Cuddy: あなた figure a perverted sense of guilt makes me a good boss?
House: Now would the world be a better place if people never felt guilty? Makes sex better. [points to Stacy with his cane] Should have seen her in the last months of our relationship. Lot of guilt. Lot of screaming. I know this wasn’t just because it was your roof. Cuddy…you see the world as it is and あなた see the world as it could be. What あなた don’t see is what everybody else sees. The giant, gaping chasm in between.
Cuddy: House, I’m not naïve. I realize—
House: If あなた did, あなた never would have hired me.
[Cuddy doesn’t answer.]
House: You’re not happy unless things are just right. Which means two things. You’re a good boss. And you’ll never be happy.
Humpty Dumpty, season 2, episode 3
House seems to understand Cuddy in a way most people can't. He manages to be able to pick out what is important to her and find the flaws in her personality which will forever make her miserable, he does this again in "No もっと見る Mr. Nice Guy." Suddenly we and House have a bigger picture of Cuddy, and therefore find her even もっと見る interesting not to mention the hint at the end of the episode that they may have slept together. "By the way, why does everybody think あなた and I had sex? Think there could be something to it? I don’t know." Like House our interest grows in the mysterious dean.
The rest of season 2 consists of the usual banter between House and Cuddy as she tries in vain to make him follow hospital rules. House pushes the boundaries a bit もっと見る with her, flirting more, and messing with her more. Rather than just messing with her to get something done like before, he now messes with her just to mess with her. As House comes to like her もっと見る and more, we as the viewers also come to like her もっと見る and more. Season 2's Huddy cultimates into "Forever," and "Who's your Daddy?"
House: Just admit that あなた like her. She's smart, funny, got a zesty bod. I think it's great あなた can look beyond the fact she's the devil.
Wilson: I ストール, 盗んだ her spoon, あなた ストール, 盗んだ her garbage.
Forever, season 2, episode 22
In "Forever" we see the first hint of jealously House has towards Wilson when Cuddy has asked him on a "date". The whole episode interaction between House and Wilson deals with whether Cuddy asked Wilson out on a 日付 または not. House becomes very interested in Cuddy. He breaks into her office, steals her trash and then finally harreses her at the end about the Red Clover he found in her trash. We become very concerned in Cuddy's well-being because House suddenly becomes very interested, if House didn't care neither would we. That's why the possibility of her having Cancer made us, well me, freak. We as the viewers also got to see how much House pays attention to Cuddy and finally get the hint that his feelings toward her are a little bit もっと見る than casual flirting.
House: あなた don't have cancer.
Cuddy: あなた don't have dwarfism.
House: あなた have no proof of that. I on the other hand, have this. [he hands her the results sheet]
Cuddy: あなた ran a PCR on me without my consent?
House: Hey, it's good news.
Cuddy: Really? It's just hard to access because of this overwhelming sense of personal violation.
House: Deal with it on your own time. Bad news, oestrogen is too high.
Cuddy: No matter how many people あなた tell otherwise, I am and always have been a woman. Oestrogen is normal.
House: Not this much, not for at least for another week. That's when あなた ovulate.
Cuddy: あなた monitor my periods? Based on when I get bitchy or...?
House: Once a month, when あなた leave the kids cancer ward, your eyes glisten. About three days later, あなた break your ban on sugar and chow down a bucket of アナと雪の女王 yoghurt in the cafeteria, sprinkles included. Based on the last yoghurt sighting, you've got another week before あなた ovulate. You're on fertility meds. With red clover as an herbal booster. [Cuddy starts to look upset] And the ディナー with Wilson was an audition. It's too bad he didn't land the gig. He would have had fun.
Cuddy: I was considering a donation, not a party.
House: So... when's our "dinner"? [with accompanying hand gestures]
[And the sound of Wilson's voice can be heard outside Cuddy's office talking to her assistant, about to walk in]
House: Oh he's going to be so disappointed.
Cuddy: Right. あなた two are going to have a lot of fun with this.
Forever, season 2, episode 22
"Forever" and "Who's your Daddy" serve to 表示する the viewers a little もっと見る about Cuddy and reveal the woman behind the adminstrator. As House learns about Cuddy's desperate desire for a baby, we realize how very alone Cuddy is and this "last gasp at motherhood" may be her only chance to have a family. House realizes the gravity of this situation that Cuddy, somewhat blinded によって her desire, does not see.
Cuddy: The process is confidential. あなた violated his privacy! How did あなた even –
House: I looked up ‘loser’ in the cryo bank. あなた wouldn’t look within a hundred miles of that idiot, and yet you’re willing to have his baby.
Cuddy: I’m not looking for a date, I’m tired of looking for a – ow! [House stabs her with the needle.]
House: Cotton ball? I don’t care if あなた marry this guy, 日付 this guy, go through his garbage, but あなた should know genes matter. Who あなた are matters. Find somebody あなた trust.
Cuddy: Somebody like you?
House: Someone あなた like.
Who's your Daddy?, season 2, episode 23
What House is saying here, または at least what I can interpret, is that she shouldn't settle for just anything. House doesn't seem to think that this picking of "loosers" is good enough for Cuddy and it seems he thinks Cuddy should wait for the real thing. (at least that's what I think)
Season 2 not only makes us もっと見る interested in Cuddy, it also allows the viewers to relate to Cuddy as もっと見る is revealed about her. As House becomes もっと見る obbessed with her, the もっと見る we as viewers find out.
Season 3- Cuddy the object of desire
Season 3, the season of so much Huddy goodness it was amazing! Season 3 pushes the Huddy relationship further as we suddenly see House's desire for her in full. The viewers are entertained によって masses of hilarious House and Cuddy moments and he suddenly uses "playground" politics to try and win Cuddy over. Again because of House's fanatics, the viewers are taught to enjoy seeing Cuddy on the screen due to the infamous moments to two bring when interacting.
At the beginning of season 3 we see the possibility that House may have recovered the use of his leg, he stops taking Vicodin and seems to have changed as he actually cares about his patients. All that soon dissapears and his leg pain returns and with it a new, stronger addiction to Vicodin due to the bitterness of nearly escaping. Hence the "Tritter Arc" is born. The Tritter arc is the 次 step in how House's opinion of Cuddy changes. Although the beginning of the season was cute with scenes like, "You can't stop our love!" and the pregnancy jabs all of them resemble the regular House and Cuddy banter we were used to from the 秒 season. The Tritter arc shows to House that Cuddy is indeed his ally, in fact the closest ally he's got. As House spirals out of control it is finally Cuddy who manages to snap House out of his little world.
[Cuddy slams the file down on her desk]
CUDDY: You're not impressing anyone, あなた may call yourself principled but what あなた really are is a stubborn adolescent idiot! This isn't his fault.
HOUSE: I'm not the one who--
CUDDY: [Walking to wards House] あなた used the rectal thermometer on him, あなた insulted him instead of apologising, あなた flaunted your drug use in his face and あなた REFUSED to accept a deal...
HOUSE: I accepted the deal!
CUDDY: Not until after あなた ストール, 盗んだ a dead guy's pills.
HOUSE: Allegedly.
CUDDY: Tritter has been opening doors for あなた every step of the way and あなた keep slamming them shut. There are no もっと見る openings to give House, if あなた wanna stay out of prison あなた gotta make one for yourself [She goes to her 机, デスク and brings over a script and puts it in house's hand] Vicodin, あなた function better on it. Talk to him.
Words and Deeds, season 3, episode 11
When Cuddy yells at House it finally brings him back to reality and he realizes the seriousness of his situation, which neither Wilson could do nor his team, we appreciate Cuddy in that respect as we see that she sees cleary for House as he once did for her. Not only does she wake him up, she also saves him. She purgers herself in court, risking both her medical license and going to jail to prevent him from loosing his medical license. She was once again his saviour when everyone else failed. As we as viewers see Cuddy come to House's rescue again, House realizes this and suddenly something very different starts happening with their relationship.
After the "Tritter Arc" House suddenly spends a lot もっと見る time investigating Cuddy's personal life. Episodes such as "Insensitive", "Top Secret", "Act your Age" and "House Training" all deal with House's(and therefore our) new interest in Cuddy's life. From interupting her dates, to purposely trying to sabotage Wilson's attempts to 日付 Cuddy, the もっと見る Huddy scenes viewers got the もっと見る we came to 愛 Huddy.
Another trend we see in Cuddy that comes out in season 3 and continues into season 4 is Cuddy suddenly breaking down and not being the hard-ass boss she used to be. Suddenly, it seems, something is comprimising her judgements and she seems much もっと見る leniant than she used to be. Suddenly Cuddy has become House's enabler, which is not a good thing mind you.
Cuddy: I have to tell him. He was right!
Wilson: Why did あなた do it? Why did あなた think he might be right?
Cuddy: Because he's House?
Wilson: Medically, what made あなた think he was right?
Cuddy: Nothing.
Wilson: He got lucky, that's all that happened. Telling him no was a good thing because 次 time he won't get lucky, he'll kill someone. Just because he was right doesn't mean he wasn't wrong.
Meaning, season 3, episode 1
Cuddy: あなた win, あなた can have vicodin. [she shakes the bottle she's got in her hand and gives a rather funny grin]
House: Words have set meanings for a reason, あなた see an animal like Bill and あなた try to play fetch, Bill's going to eat あなた because Bill's a bear.
Cuddy: Are あなた on something? [House gives her a look that confirms her question] あなた got your hands on pain meds.
Merry Little Christmas, season 3, episode 10
House: She doesn’t know me. In fact she doesn’t know anything except what あなた tell her. And あなた told her that あなた were never going to give me that space, didn’t you? Just tell me – do あなた at least feel a little guilty? If あなた want to teach me lessons, don’t make commitments あなた can’t keep. (Cuddy heads toward the hospital, House turns to parking lot. Wilson approaches)
Wilson: How’s it going?
House: How guilty does she look?
Wilson: Hmm. About an eight.
House: That 宇宙 is mine. Veni, vidi, vici.
Needle in a Haystack, season 3, episode 13
House: Nothing on the scan. I think it’s her nerves messing with the temperature control. Amyloid, sarcoid, there’s a lot of candidates. I want a biopsy.
Cuddy: Fine. If that’s what あなた need, go get it. (when before she had 発言しました no, unless the patient showed neurological signs)
Insensitive, season 3, episode 14
WILSON: House has to realize he needs someone who stands up to him. Cameron's in 愛 with him, Chase is afraid of him, and I enable him. House needs limits.
CUDDY: [protesting] I give him...
WILSON: あなた authorize magic mushrooms.
The Jerk, season 3, episode 23
Suddenly Cuddy gives in left, right and center constantly giving him what we wants and sometimes barely putting up a fight. Now I realize this is her trust in his medical ability but sometimes this blind faith in him can cause problems which is explored in "living the dream" which will be discussed later. Cuddy suddenly is viewed as a weaker character, submitting much easier to House t han she did before. This can be taken as either her character is just getting softer または she's formed a softer spot for House.
Season 3 offered a lot of good Huddy moments which built up the sexual tension and had many ファン excited for season 4. Season 3 showed the viewers House's jealous streak and also proved how Cuddy is a constant 情報源 of reliability for House.
Season 4- Cuddy the submissive
Season 4 was a メリダとおそろしの森 step for the writers as they cast aside beloved characters and made way for new members to 登録する the House MD family. The older characters had to take a bit of a back シート, 座席 as the newer characters were brought into the light and attempted to interest us in their lives. Many of which were successful and therefore made the blow (well to some people) of loosing screentime for older characters less tramatic (again I stress some people). Cuddy took a bit to the sidelines compared to season 3 but her image once again changed in season 4.
A common trend in season 4 dealt with the idea that Cuddy was not the all powerful boss that season 1 made her out to be. Starting in season 3 and cultimating in season 4's "Living the Dream," Cuddy's new found blind trust in House suddenly becomes a much bigger issue.
LISA CUDDY: Why are あなた here?
GREG HOUSE: That's my patient down there.
LISA CUDDY: You're here because I'm here. [confidently] I am done enabling you.
GREG HOUSE: I know.
[They stand and watch the surgery in silence. Cuddy cracks first.]
LISA CUDDY: [without a pause] The alcohol didn't cause the pancreatitis, the internal bleeding did. The 質問 is, what caused the internal bleeding? I hate myself.
Alone, season 4, episode 1
CUDDY: I can 火災, 火 him. I can 火災, 火 him now. I can 火災, 火 him tomorrow. I don't even need a reason.
HOUSE: She doesn't 火災, 火 me, she never will 火災, 火 me, she needs me.
CUDDY: He's a good doctor. That's all. I respect his expertise, and I...
HOUSE: She's hot for me. Always...
PATIENT: Shut up!
CUDDY: Well, that could have been either of us.
PATIENT: [Looks at Cuddy.] あなた have great yabos. [House looks at Cuddy.]
CUDDY: That still could have been either of us. [Looks at House.]
HOUSE: あなた lose.
CUDDY: Seriously... [House starts celebrating.] I have always thought my breasts were one of my best features.
Mirror Mirror, season 4, episode 5
LISA CUDDY: What the hell did あなた do?
GREG HOUSE: [shrugs innocently] あなた told me to hire Kutner and Taub.
LISA CUDDY: Because I knew あなた wouldn't.
GREG HOUSE: Oops.
LISA CUDDY: I can't let あなた hire two men.
GREG HOUSE: Now that is sexist.
LISA CUDDY: You've already got Foreman.
GREG HOUSE: Is he a dude?
LISA CUDDY: [conceding] Hire a woman too.
GREG HOUSE: Hire two women.
LISA CUDDY: あなた can have the one that gives a crap about people.
GREG HOUSE: [seriously] They both do.
LISA CUDDY: Right. Hire "Thirteen".
[House nods obediently. Cuddy starts to walk off. An evil smile forms on House's face. Cuddy stops midway to the door, suddenly understanding.]
[CUE MUSIC: "Spirit in the Sky" によって Norman Greenbaum.]
LISA CUDDY: This was your plan all along.
[She turns to him. House keeps smiling. Cuddy chuckles at being had.]
LISA CUDDY: Well, at least the games are over.
GREG HOUSE: [sideways] How long have あなた known me?
Games, season 4, epsiode 9
Cuddy: 100 milligrams of methylprednisilone is an overdose.
House: We were wrong about the infection. He’s suffering from a severe allergic reaction.
Cuddy: The team hasn’t finished the test for allergy. His symptoms don’t –
House: In rare cases… Trust me. At the end of this conversation, I’m right.
Cuddy: Then 確認 it. Get a blood test.
House: What is it about this severe and deepening coma that makes あなた think we got time for protocol?
Cuddy: Protocol has saved your patient from having his thyroid destroyed and his blood drained.
House: If あなた think I’m wrong, tell me I’m wrong. Don’t talk about protocol.
Cuddy: My job’s on the line. You’re job is on the line.
House: Okay. Here’s what あなた do. あなた wait three minutes, then あなた call security. によって the time they get here and lock me up, I’ll be done. He gets to live and your 尻, お尻 gets to be covered.
Cuddy: If he dies, let me know. So I can pack my things.
Living the Dream, season 4, episode 14
These 名言・格言 are used to prove how Cuddy's dominance over House is called into 質問 come season 4. House at first finds it funny and a joke as he manages to overcome her in "Mirror Mirror", which only proved to the audience that she was suddenly a much もっと見る submissive character considering the Cuddy of season 1 would have kicked his ass. But come "Living the Dream", House realizes that this weakening is not all too great. House, and the viewers, are used to seeing Cuddy put House in his place and be his safe-guard against going too far. Sometimes his do anything to cure the patient attitude blinds him and he thinks desperate times call for desperate measures. He (and we) depend on Cuddy to stop him from going too far and killing somebody in his attempts to cure them. Season 3 and Season 4 saw her slowly starting to concede to his will and "Living the Dream," sees them both realize what is happening.
Cuddy: Hello?
House: Don’t hang up. What was the verdict?
Cuddy: $200,000 fine.
House: あなた should have been fired.
Cuddy: Good night, House.
House: There are bubbles in his glass.
Cuddy: Can’t this wait until –
House: My patient is allergic to quinine. [Cuddy turns on the light and sits up.]
Cuddy: And あなた got this from bubbles?
House: The symptoms started two months ago. It’s also when Brock started downing ジン and tonics like a Brit staving off malaria. The ジン was fake. The tonic was real.
Cuddy: And tonic water is loaded with quinine. Huh. Nice job.
House: あなた should’ve been fired.
Living the Dream, season 4, episode 14
Season 4 may have been a bit slow for Cuddy but a very serious story arc came through. Now as we enter the new season a 質問 is in the viewers minds, can Cuddy still remain objective around House または will her decesions be compromised, at some point allowing House to go too far. "Living the Dream," was a close shave and they both knew it, the 質問 that lingers is what will happen now?
SEASON 4 FINALE- CUDDY THE STRIPPER...I MEAN THE CARING
Ok, so I had to do one section on the finale since it had a lot of Huddy scenes and left us with a very touching moment that every Huddy ファン spazzed over. But besides the spazzing, the finale actually told us as the viewers a lot of things, though obvious to the 'huddy trained eye', were finally admitted in the finale.
First of all the most obvious one......House wants to have sex with Cuddy. If the stripper pole dance didn't give that away to everyone then I don't know what can. The fact that he fantasizes about her stripping for him, pretty much indicates that he wants her, physically anyway. Though I think many people had admitted that before to themselves, it gave people a new view of how House viewed Cuddy. Myself, though House is a man as he puts it brilliantly, "Don't blame me, blame my gender.", I was shocked によって how degrading the ファンタジー really was to Cuddy, it made me think that maybe all House viewed Cuddy as was a hot rack and a nice ass. It put me in a bit of a tail-spin, I'm hoping my reaction can be related to be many, and I had a new view of the huddy relationship.
Luckily for me, the rest of the episode, Cuddy's actions anyway, made me feel a little better. She came to his apartment to personally look after him and make sure he got the rest he needed. This says a lot with such a simple action. We as viewers have never seen Cuddy invited into House's apartment, and she stays the night. This shows a comfortableness between the two, and once again shows the viewers that Cuddy cares very much about House's well-being, though again many people will have already admitted to themselves.
Lastly for House's head, further proof of Cuddy's caring for House. The way her voice broke at the end of the episode after she gave him mouth to mouth the, "You idiot, your ハート, 心 stopped." Showed us all how scared she really was.
Alright moving onto "Wilson's Heart."
JAMES WILSON: That wouldn't be there if あなた hadn't...
LISA CUDDY: It's where the disease was going. We needed to know that.
[House gets up and walks away from the argument near his table.]
JAMES WILSON: [yelling] This was not your decision to make! あなた went behind my back. あなた went behind House's back.
GREG HOUSE: [to himself] Inside voices.
LISA CUDDY: House wanted to warm her up. あなた just guilted him into changing his mind.
[Wilson sighs. Cuddy goes over to House.]
LISA CUDDY: Heart, liver, rash, and now her brain.
GREG HOUSE: Autoimmune fits best. Crash trauma could've set it off. Start her on prednisone, then we'll warm her up again. [sits]
JAMES WILSON: House, if this is some other infection, the steroids will trash her immune system.
[Cuddy looks at House. House looks away. Cuddy turns to Wilson, putting her hand on his shoulder.]
LISA CUDDY: [softly] He's the attending. You're the family. Go spend もっと見る time with the patient.
Wilson's Heart, season 4, episode 16
When House feels the pressure of Wilson's demands for caution, Cuddy steps in and reminds Wilson of where he stands on this issue. She helps House によって doing the very thing he needed to do, warm Amber up, but was afraid to because of Wilson. Cuddy suddenly becomes the boss we used to know her as, putting Wilson in his place, and although she feels for Wilson she realizes that House needs his 宇宙 to work best. The viewers are reminded of the "bad guy" character Cuddy could be from season 1.
LISA CUDDY: Hey, I'm here. Blink if あなた can hear me.
[House blinks absent-mindedly.]
# There are things that drift away #
[Cuddy sighs deeply in relief. House inhales, about to say something.]
LISA CUDDY: No, shh, don't try to talk. Just rest.
[House closes his eyes.]
This scene again says a lot. When House wakes up, the only person there for him is Cuddy. She's the one he wakes up to and as bainmoussant put so well a while back the amber scene ends with ,"well あなた can't always get what あなた want," and then we see Cuddy, which is "if あなた try sometimes あなた can get what あなた need." Coincidence? Its up to you. Anyway, this scene is further proof to the viewers about Cuddy's feelings for House, now displayed quite openly for both us and House to see.
Finally, we deal with the last scene as House mules over his new found situation with Wilson, the camera pulls out from Cuddy asleep in the chair 次 to his ベッド to reveal House and Cuddy holding hands. This was shocking, and incredibly touching. It was the 秒 time the 表示する has very blatantly shown House allowing an intimacy with another character. (Stacy being the first time) によって allowing Cuddy to hold his hand, House has accepted her support.
The finale finally showed to House and the viewers how much Cuddy cares about House's well being. Her tear stained face, and broken voice told everyone that she was worried about him, something we've never seen before.
Our perception of the characters is very much dependent on House's perception of them. As he sees characters differently we are taught to do the same. Cuddy's meaning to House changes with each season and so the importance of her character grows. Although she is not always seen in the best of lights and can sometimes be considered just "the boss", Cuddy is a character who is constantly brought under a different light because House's fasanation with her changes and evolves. As season 4 was wrapped up so nicely, many 質問 about the Huddy relationship are being asked, and frankly I have no idea what the writers are planning for us. The only thing I know for certain is that once again the viewer's perception of Cuddy will change because as long as House remains interested in her, the viewers will remain interested.
