All I can really say is that they are completely different than the movies. You'd have to read them yourself to find out, but there are many differences, and the 映画 could never even compare to the 本 :)
read. the. books. !!! they are so amazing and so much better then the movies! which is saying a lot cause the 映画 are AMAZING. but the 本 are like, 'whoa!!!UN-BEIVEABLE!' they are just GREAT, words cant explain. :)
あなた want ten years of 読書 a saga to be explained?! Don't あなた have any idea the moments and details you're gonna miss? Just read the books, it's a lot to explain. And によって the way I just wanna say I wouldn't get mad if I didn't get the answer that explains it all... Just read the books, they're awesome, fun. You'll get so into the story you'll finish them in no time...

it took me two weeks to read the 秒 book, it doesn't pull me in like other 本 :(
Then I guess あなた could see the movies, I guess. It's going to be hard to find someone who can explain... But if あなた don't like the 映画 または find them boring または something else makes あなた not want to see the movies, then Harry Potter is just not for you...
