Surprise! Varys was right! Bitch be crazy.

In what world does Arya Stark ride her ass all the way to King's Landing to kill someone on The List and decide to turn around and run away at the last minute?? D&D's world, apparently. Arya is better than that. Hell, even Cersei & Jaime are better than that. Dying in each other's arms hiding underground and not on someone else's sword? Pfft. Even Lannisters deserve better deaths than that. Euron did, too. (If he is, in fact, dead. If he's not, he needs to dig them out and give them both the stabby, bloody deaths they deserve.)

Also: I CANNOT BELIEVE that Euron didn't pick up on all the preggo-talk and turn on Cersei for lying about the babydaddy. The director said that Euron "wasn't paying attention" during Tyrion's speech, which is one of the dumbest things I've heard all stupid season. And this has been the dumbest season ever. *growls*

At least it looks like Arya might get to kill a queen, even if it's not the one originally on The List. Or Jon. Somebody'll get you, Blondie. And your dumb dragon too.

Fuck the Queen. I said it on multiple occasions, but why did none of the Lannister soldiers when they threw down their weapons? Felt like an excellent time for a throwback.

I feel like I missed something with the little girl (or two?) and the lady who ran with Arya for a while. Is that the same Little Paranoid Girl that was talking to Varys (RIP, only sane person on Team Dragon) at the beginning of the episode? And is Little Paranoid Girl the same kid that Gilly asked to come defend the crypts during the Battle of Winterfell, who I've been referring to as Fighter Child? Am I thinking of 3 different kids? Random Children confuse me.

Oh, I almost forgot: SNITCHES GET STITCHES, TYRION LANNISTER.

^I think those are three different kids. I think the girl Arya tried to save was the one that couldn't get in through the doors because Arya and Sandor pushed them out of the way to make their way in there.

The most disappointing part was really Cersei's death. Urgh. As well as Jaime's.

I too feel like either Arya or Jon will kill Dany next week. I haven't been a big fan of hers for a while now, but when they surrendered and she still decided to kill EVERYONE innocent people in the city I was really annoyed. I knew she's been madder and madder, but OMG that is one cold ass move! And she calls herself NOT tyrant????

Poor Varys. I felt a little sad when his final words were "I hope I'm wrong about Daenerys."

I did enjoy watching Daenerys burn the entire city and going mad.

I was expecting Cersei to put up more of a fight. Her death along with Jaime's bothered me. It could have been handled a lot better.

My highlight from the episode was prolly Sandor getting revenge on his bro.

Welp, one more ep to go. It's really quite a shame this show has turned into a poorly written soup-opera with a high budget.

I spent a lot of the episode trying to figure out why characters were making certain decisions... I didn't really have an idea what was going on with Arya after she split with The Hound. I hate Jaime again, so didn't care about any of that nonsense. The Hound VS The Mountain was so noticeably shoe-horned in and felt like it didn't really do The Hound justice. I literally just finished watching the episode and can't even remember much beyond crumbling buildings?

I did like Varys' death, and the dragon scorching the ships. Some of the battle stuff was cool. But overall it just seemed like a series of anti-climatic deaths that didn't make a heck of a lot of sense.

Definitely disappointing.... Since season 1 I've longed for Cersei to get her comeuppance; I was really looking forward to her demise and hoping that a redeemed Jaime would be the one to kill her - preferably in a memorable manner. But no; she was crushed by falling masonry along with Jaime and all of his character development over the last seven seasons.

As for Dany; I disagree respectfully with those who say that there was no way she'd do what she did. Since she married Drogo and started to assert herself, the seeds were already sown, IMO and it was being built up subtly over all seven seasons. She stated clearly from time after Drogo's death that she was going to ''take what is mine with fire and blood.'' She's always wanted her own way by any means, but when she had Jorah by her side she was more inclined to be reasonable. Remember back in Mereen when she executed Mossador, a slave whom she recently liberated? And how she burnt the Tarlys? She always had tyrannical tendencies, but for the best part they were balanced by the good she did. My problem with the ''Mad Queen'' thing is the pacing. It escalated way too quickly. Which is why they should have committed to another couple of seasons in order to build the descent into madness - or at the very least given us ten episodes this season.

And, I wish the Hound had survived Cleganebowl; he was one of my favourite characters. : (

In my opinion, Daenerys went from saviour of the slaves to a heartless being too fast. There should have been at least 2 more seasons to show this change happening inside her. I understand that she lost Missandei, she lost Jorah, she lost two of her dragons and that would cause anyone to be filled with anger and hatred. But watching her continue to burn the city even after they rang the bells.... I felt soooo betrayed. The writers made us fall in love with this character for 7 whole seasons only to destroy her completely in the last part.

Random Child Update:
-The kid that volunteered to protect the crypts of Winterfell was named Teela. Her only purpose seems to have been reminding Davos and Gilly of Shireen.
-Varys' little friend is named Martha. She was with him in the crypts, and the one who came to see him before his execution.
-The short-haired woman Arya ran with during Daenerys' assault on King's Landing was named Nora. Her daughter is currently unnamed. I have come to the conclusion that they were only there to humanize the residents of King's Landing for the viewers - Arya cared about them for a millisecond, so you should too, I guess.

I thought they were all the same kid. 'Cause I knew Varys was with a kid in the crypt, and since Teela seems to be a real go-getter, thought perhaps she'd been on board with the poison plan. (They were totally trying to poison Daenerys' food in the beginning of the ep, right?) But when I saw the kid in King's Landing with the woman who held Arya's gaze, I thought they were allies who had been sent to poison Cersei. Poison for everyone!

I've sort of come to peace with the fact they've fucked the story up and sat back to enjoy the absolutely amazing cinematography, directing, acting, score. Basically what ranty-cat said lol. It was gorgeous.

Also liked how they focused on the civilians on the ground instead of following Dany. It shouldn't have been Arya they followed through Kings Landing in order to tell that story though - we knew she wasn't gonna die. It should've been someone like Davos Seaworth who has a very real possibility of death and also an emotional connection to Kings Landing and its people, having grown up in Flea Bottom. Woud've made it all the more impactful.

Also they rushed the Mad Queen storyline but I was... idk, pleasantly appalled at what she was doing? Like it was horrible but it was engrossing. The episode reflected the pain and anguish of innocents very well.

It also felt a bit more like the books in one way: The Northmen who we assumed to be the good guys have rapists and murderers among them. The Unsullied who we assumed are the liberators kill unarmed people. Daenerys who we assumed eould be free of the curse of Targaryen genes is a little bit kooky. GRMM wasn't "subverting our expections" like D&D tried to in the rest of season 8, but he did want to twist a knife into our guts with a cruel reminder that in the world of ice and fire, there are no good guys and bad guys. It feels like how George wanted this story to end (and he did indeed say the show ending would be pretty similar to his own), it's just that the show writers didn't follow the right steps to get there.

Still, completely irked by Jaime's character arc conclusion and Cersei's method of death. And they should've had a more believable trigger for Dany to raze the whole place... like killing Rhaegal in this ep instead of pointlessly killing him in the last one.

Zeppie picked Loved it!:
I loved it. Absolutely loved Jaime and Cersei's scene. Very humanising. I came to terms about his addiction and pull of a toxic relationship. Only they matter in their world. That has been a running theme. I'm glad it was brought back for their final moment of peace with each other.
Loved mad Dany. Expected her to snap.

I find it unfortunate that people are very narrow minded with how they want Game of Thrones to play out. It's not a hero's journey. It wont be wrapped up neatly to a perfect pretty narrative. This episode deals a lot with the emotional consequence from loss. How it changes people. How they make descions you dont expect because a situation has flipped on its head.

I just feel sorry for the fans that can't seem to enjoy it. I very Much so understand why theyr e upset. I just enjoy a lot of moments that they happen to dislike. Many decisions and situations are throwbacks to the beginning of GoT and I appreciate that.

The one character I'm disappointed in is Tyrion. He's been going downhill for a while.

vagos picked Disappointing.:
apparently people cant tell bad writing like seriously really really bad writing....but i am not gonna argue or anything, two things about the episode

1: nice daenerys going mad lmao apparently you better not ring a bell right next to her cuz she will burn you ringing bells piss her off aaaaaaaaaaaaand the part when she gets Mad is so fucking stupid omfg she changes so fast like its nothing it doesnt make any sense for a character to change so fast after she said shes not a tyrant and she cares about future generations (oopps looks like not she burned them all literally QUITE literally)

2: Lmao fucking tyrion has become so stupid like holy shieeet, i never seen tyrion being this stupid before like ever have you? because yeah what the shit out the sudden but wait i'll continue

3: tyrion didnt kill cersei apparently bricks did get the job done, lmao bricks to overpowered needs nerfing ASAP XD

4:godamn this people cant aim for shit with the scorpions XD, remember like one episode ago when they killed a dragon? what happend bruh? drunk as heck? XD

5: jaimes lannister ark is completely ruined like COMPLETELY ruined, he turned good and then bad again, yup idk what the heck that was like seriously i feel bad for brienne

6: arya didnt do the thing she wanted too (too kill cersei apparently) this writes are just messing with us at this point tbh, i never seen arya chicken out because a while ago she said that shes not afraid of death and apparently now completely scared, wtf again lmao

7:(last one a joke one) dont ring bells in daenerys ears because she will burn you xDDDD, the dothraki apparently respawned she has kinda full of army out of no where and the unsullied, okay i am done now lmao

this episode has bad writing if people cant see that then i am worried about future generations tv shows, imagine if everybody paid for a crap season like this, the most hated season for me is this one, should be ashamed of themselves for being such a letdown after all those damn years and its been what 8 years i think? idk who i should hate george RR martin, or the writes maybe both deserve a huge FU for the hardcore fans out there.

What I hated:

Arya and Drogon having 100000% plot armor
Jaime vs Euron
Daenerys herself lol
The ending
the whole Jon Snow is the TRUE heir and the chosen one and the good guy and the hero... and blah blah blah.

What I liked/loved:

The Jaime and Cersei scene and how humanized Cersei and the people of Kings Landing was
Sandor vs Gregor.

I'm one of the only people who still likes Jaime and doesn't think him going back to Cercei is a bad thing or his entire character being ruined. I'm actually glad it doesn't end up predictable and exactly as people want, everyone wants him with Brienne, everyone wants him to kill Cersei, and I'm glad neither if those happened.
I really felt for Cersei and Jaime in this episode, like a lot, I imagine everyone has like hoping to see Cersei get brutally murdered, but I sat there and actually hoped for her to make it, even though it was predictable that she wouldn't make it. I've always thought Cersei was a fantastic well fleshed out character, so I could never hate her as much as some people (even though I did hate her sometimes) but she's honestly one of the absolute best characters in the show.

What I hated about the Euron and Jaime fight was actually again plot armor for a main character (Jaime) the way he was stabbed over and over again but he manage to walk away unhurt as if nothing happened.

Okay so one ship and one ballista could almost kill two dragons and easily killed the first, but 50 ships with ballistas and 50-100 more on the walls could not even get close to hitting Drogon???? Ugh Game of Thrones logic these days: if it's an important character, they survive things that they never would.

And once again Arya surviving everything no matter what almost had me screaming, like can she just die already! (not that I want her to) She survives no matter what fucking happens to her, it's painful 10000% plot armor.... I imagine that if Daenerys decided to burn the whole world and everyone in it Arya would be the only one to survive, because you know, she literally can't die. And then the fucking horse... Again she magically survives and has the most unrealistic luck I've ever seen for a character probably. The whole city is burning, everyone is scared and running, and everything is crumbling, but for some reason this horse is just standing there as if nothing was going on, the horse is just waiting for Arya, it's not like a horse would be scared and running or anything, no just stand there and wait for Arya, so she can survive again....

Sandor was amazing, now that is how you handle a character!! That scene and that sacrifice was amazing!

Sandor and Cersei were my favorites in this episode.
