You don't really see her do that much as a sidekick. Plus I like the idea of her as more of a villain character considering she does nothing to improve Cinderella's life, and waits till a random ball to do anything. :P

AangLite, if you don't mind, I'd just like to offer my thoughts? I think she was supposed to be more symbolic of those random people that we bump into in life who help us, but we never see again. It is rare and I think she was more meant to be someone who travels along, helping those in need that she passes along the way, than just focusing on Cinderella only. This is just my head canon of course, but I thought I'd offer another point of view of her.

I like all of the other sidekicks more than Lumiere. I don't like the way he treats women/his objectifying attitude towards them.

I like that point of view! I've never really heard it so thanks for that! I guess I'd say then that theme and symbolism wise she makes sense in the movie, but as an actual sidekick character, she leaves a bit to be desired.

As for Lumiere, I think he's supposed to be a Frenchman parody, so his attitude makes sense. Plus he does offer a lot of good advice to the beast, and is rather terrifying when the mob attacks the castle. The perfect sidekick, at least in my opinion of course.

AangLite, I agree as a sidekick character, "she leaves a bit to be desired". I have experienced people like her in my life before, that kind of come in and make a positive difference during the right time, so that's why I personally saw her that way.

I agree about Lumiere giving good advice to the beast and doing his part against the mob as well. He just isn't my personal cup of tea. They are kind of close for me though (Lumiere & Fairy Godmother).
