Well, now that Flynn and Rapunzel are gone *Pats off hands* let's get down to this scene...

Don't get me wrong, I really like the scene. POYW reprise was beautiful and all, but-
It's a bit disturbing. Maybe it's just because I like personal space, but seeing Ariel rub his face like that while he's unconscious sort of bothers me.

Flounder and Sebastian: Ariel don't you think we should give the guy some personal space or take the regular precautions to a situation like this?

Ariel: No he's so pretty! *Stares at him like a stalker*

The Mulan/Shang and Aladdin/Jasmine scenes might have been funny, but at least it's something that both from the couple would remember.

Ariel: Hey Eric remember that time you were unconscious and I kept rubbing your face?"
Eric: Nooo....

Aurora and Phillip are my personal favorite though ^_^

Again and again... there's nothing romantic, funny in this meeting!!

^But I still love it, even if not romantic. but it IS funny.
This one...Only because I like the other 3 more.

They don't really meet, Eric just wakes up and sees her singing at him, also the other 3 left are my 3 favourites.

Although it ~is~ funny in retrospect, it's not as good as the other three.

She dances and sings and then BAM he comes and she looks terrified. I know its supposed to be romantic, but the other ones are way less creepy.

The foundation of a deep, solid, healthy, well-rounded relationship:

"He's so beautiful..."
"She had the most beautiful voice!"

If you think a deep relationship can be founded on such shallow means, good for you.

Aurora and Philip might also be shallow, but at least they... speak, dance, share a song together before the "I love him/her." At least they interact. At least they get a sense of what it would be like to speak to and spend time with the other person, however briefly. Ariel just watches Eric from a distance for a few seconds tops, then when he's unconscious. He literally JUST hears her voice to fall "in love," and only commits to the girl when he realizes she has the voice. That voice can be attached to anyone and he'd "love" whoever happened to have it (which he DOES, when URSULA uses it), not the girl.

She just stares at him while he's semiconscious. Can it be considered a first encounter if one party isn't fully there?

It's sweet and all and it's a breathtaking moment IMO. But both the Aladdin/Jasmine and Mulan/Shang scenes are very fun and the Aurora/Phillip scene is very romantic that this is my least favorite of what's left.

well nice rescue but they didn't truly get a chance to personality connect before Ariel proclaims true love for him and he becomes a voice stalker

OK, this should've left long ago. Not cute or romantic at all. He doesn't even know who it really is, for goodness' sake.

Sooo glad that Rapunzel and Flynn had been eliminated :3 I don't like some of 'My name is Ping' parts...

Ugh, this is still here and two of the classics have gone? What the heck?

Meh, it's the classic handsome boy swoops in and saves the girl trope. Very unoriginal imo.

I prefer encounters with less conflict...

Oh, well, I think Ariel and Eric's one can be defined as a first encounter; they meet each other and communicate, even if it's not verbal. Eric doesn't talk, but he still wakes up. He still sees her and meets her.
You don't have to talk to someone to meet them.
Encounter - "an unexpected or casual meeting with someone or something."
This poll is about first encounters, not first communications. Pocahontas and John Smith don't communicate for a while - I think lack of communicated makes it more powerful.
Anyway, sorry if you disagree, that's just what I thought.
