Neither of them had good parental role models. Rapunzel might not be confident that she could discipline her children without doing damage to them. I just wouldn't trust Flynn to raise a grounded kid.

He'd abandon their child at an VERY early age.

Definitely. Like Jasmine and Aladdin, neither had a good parental environment growing up. Other than that, they are not mature and mentally capable of successfully raising a child at the moment. Flynn would either neglect the child over time or get extremely overwhelmed, and Rapunzel would get overwhelmed and lost about everything. There is really no proof that they would do well disciplining their children
