How sad to see Aladdin and Jasmine's First Encounter gone. It was one of my favorite! But, it was your decision.

This one is not romantic or funny. She is only happy to see him again, but he doesn't show emotions.

Anyway, I think it was not that special, I would have voted it earlier but I didn't join in to vote. I once voted twice.. But I think it is cute, not compared to the others.

I agree Ariel/Eric's meeting was blah, Alaadin/Jasmine's should've stayed. :/ I just dislike this meeting more.

I don't actually think John Smith was about to shoot her, though. He was merely doing the necessary preparation in order to defend himself just in case.

John Smith was armed with a matchlock musket. This weapon is not like a modern gun which can be ready to shoot in moments. It takes a long time to load and it takes a while to light the slow burning match line. Then, it's only ready to fire for some seconds, until the match burns too far. It's not like a flintlock which can be ready to fire indefinitely while loaded and cocked.

Anyway, Eric did show plenty of emotions in their seaside meeting! He had been searching for "the one" desperately, and he thought Ariel was her. He's then crushed when he finds out she isn't her. But he's still caring and kind to her, thinking that she had been through something.

It's so hard! But I have to go with this one because Ariel's the one who's chasing Eric. I think it's the boy who chases the girl, not girl chases boy.

It's not as romantic as the others!

I personally love this scene, but it doesn't have quite the passion and romantic feelings of the others.

The thing is, I don't see Ariel as human as the first encounter. For me, the first encounter is when she sings to him and Eric wakes up and gets a first glimpse of her. And that is one of the most iconic moments in the movie.
As is Pocahontas first encounter, but it's a little bit contrived - okay, Pocahontas doesn't know what a gun is, but would you just calmly stand there when someone suddenly jumps in front of you? The natural reaction for every one would be to reflexly jump back.

your explanation about Pocajohntas meeting is somehow irrational.
It's disney, we don't care about how a musket works but how people see it. And most of the people doesn't know that. It's like saying: Ariel/Eric's must be out becaseu a mermaid can't be human.

Pocahontas/Smith meeting disturbs me. I don't care whether or not he was about to shoot her, he pointed a loaded gun at her, because he thought she was one of the "savages" - people of different culture that he didn't accept and it was also implied in the beginning of the movie when Smith and Ratcliffe interacted and talked about taking that land away from people it rightfully belonged to that Smith used to kill "savages" previously. This meeting was NOT romantic at all, not even in a slightest imo.

It's nothing special and the other two are my top 2 favorites
