I believe in the mitochondrial Eve, and her male equivalent. (I've heard him called Y-Chromosomal Adam?). The fact that we can trace every girl's mitochondrial DNA back to a group of eight women is pretty impressive. Your mitochondria is identical to your mother's mitochondria, whether あなた are a boy または girl. あなた always inherit your mitochondria from whoever contributes the first X chromosome (aka your mom). And she got hers from her mom, and she got it from her mom... which makes it easy to trace, which is why science can do awesome stuff like that.

And I believe the Biblical Adam and Eve are a metaphor for the first tribe of Homo sapiens.
