ディベート Topic 19: What is a hero または villain who had a lot of potential that went to waste for one reason または another?

In terms of villains, it's sadly obvious: Aizen Sousuke. Here's a guy who came off as smooth as silk, manipulating everyone around him like a boss and never sweating the small stuff. He was always several steps ahead of his enemies, and had a tremendous number of powerful allies at his beck and call, not to mention an intriguing and difficult to counter set of abilities.

Then he became a beautiful butterfly...

I still think that the Hogyoku ate his brain. He proceeded to sacrifice almost every ally in a pointless battle that he knew was pointless going in, not to mention one that he probably could have won によって himself at the time. Having claimed victory from the jaws of defeat (by which I mean having done all the work himself, with a little help from Wonderweiss, and making it look easy), he proceeded to make his merry way to Karakura Town, where he dicked around with normal humans for a while rather than claiming his prize, giving Ichigo the precious time he needed to respond. Then he proceeded to underestimate him, spurning his abilities and fighting entirely based on power. Frankly, it's amazing he wasn't captured earlier. Just a sad thing to watch.

Hmm...

Ginko from Mushishi. He was a great main character; he was like a クロス between はたけカカシ Hatake and Snufkin from The Moomins. Unfortunately, the アニメ didn't really focus on him, but on the people he helped, nearly all of whom I found boring compared to Ginko.

Sorry, Mushishi fans; I 愛 some aspects of Mushishi, it's just... not for me.

Well, I'm going to go with Vicious, from Cowboy Bebop. At the beginning, he was made out to be an extremely sadistic character, who seemed to be experiencing mental issues. Of course, that part was probably true.
Then, he and Spike met for the first time (in the anime, anyway, they'd met many times before that, but this was the first during the anime) and they had a pretty average fight, where it was basically Vicious with a katana (or two, can't remember) and Spike with his guns. The fight ended and I was a bit disappointed.

Then, the final fight came about and it6 was pretty good, better than the first, but I was もっと見る impressed with Spike and not Vicious... Spike left an impression on me through that, killing Vicious, and then hobbling off down the stairs, to collapse and die (or so we assume).
