Chapter Ten:


The 火災, 火 raged. Nightwing watched as a tower crumbled. He grabbed another girl and dragged her off the school yards. He turned back and got a kick to the face. Blue Beetle ran over and helped him stand again.

"Hello, Nightwing,darling." the woman said. "Remember me?"

"Too well." Nightwing said, wiping the blood from his mouth as the rain continued to pour down.

"You need help, hombre?" Beetle asked.

"I'm fine." Nightwing said. "Get the girl to the hospital with Mal. And raise a line to Revenge. Tell him to get out. Now!"

Beetle nodded and ran off. Nightwing turned back to his adversary. Formerly known as Catalina Flores, タランチュラ had the same devilish smirk as everytime they met. Her outfit was similar to Artemis's. Instead of green and ライム green however, she was オレンジ and black with a large クモ, スパイダー emblem on her chest. Her オレンジ domino mask was similar to Nightwing's except it had a large black diamond in the middle of it. Her hair was wet and clung to her face in the midnight rain.

"Careful, darling." she said. "My bite's poisonous."

Before Nightwing could respond, the 城 crumbled inward. Then, all the debris flew outward as the bombs detonated.

Nightwing grabbed タランチュラ and tossed her to the ground, covering her body as the blast rocked the ground, pieces of 城 flying everywhere.

Nightwing stood up, rubbing his head trying to clear the muddle caused によって a piece of debris that had smacked him in the back of the head. He looked around at he ruined former school.

"Revenge!" he yelled. "Emerald!" Batgirl and the rest of the Team ran up yelling the names of the Black Hero and his partner.

A 木, ツリー limb cracked and Nightwing turned around. タランチュラ was hanging from a tree, her mischievous grin gone. "I don't think they could've survived that." she said.



61 Hours Earlier...


"M'gann, Barbara, Holly, and Cassie have not raised a communication in two days. I'm beginning to worry." Nightwing said.

"See, that's your problem." Beast Boy said. "You worry too much." taking another bite out of his tofu burger, the green-skinned thirteen 年 old seemed without a care.

"I don't know, amigo." Jaimie said. "I'm starting to worry too."

"Ah, Nightwing's personality is rubbing off on you." ガーフィールド said.

"And has anyone seen Red Revenge?"

"That partypooper? He can stay wherever--" ガーフィールド was cut short as a black-gloved hand grabbed his ear.

"Yes, the partypooper." Revenge replied.

"Ow!Ow!Ow!Ow!Ow!Ow!Ow!" ガーフィールド exclaimed. "Leggo!"

Revenge complied.

"Any news for us?" Nightwing asked.

"Megan and Barbara are going after Karen. ヒイラギ, ホリー and Cassie are holding position. They got a message from the Light yesterday."

"They got a message from who?!"
"They're going where?!"
"SHUT UP!!!"

"I also gave Mal a status update. I suggest あなた let him out of that hotel room."

Nightwing sighed, letting everything sift through his brain before speaking.

"Very well. Revenge, あなた and Mal--"

"Nice try bird-boy," Revenge said. "But I'm not a babysitter."

"You never want to do anything amigo!" Jaimie exclaimed. "Why did あなた even 登録する the Team?"

"The purpose is gone now." Revenge said, turning away. "If あなた want me to leave, I will after this mission."

Jaimie stood shell-shocked. "Hombre, I didn't mean--"

"Save it, Jaimie." Revenge said. "Nightwing has a debriefing to do. I've got lives to protect."

The Black Hero jumped the building and was gone.
