Artemis dangled her feet over the 火災, 火 escape as she stared up at the murky, grey skyline. Gotham wasn’t particularly bright and sunny in the daytime but at night the air hung heavy with pollution and fog that blotted out even the brightest 星, つ星 in the night sky.

Artemis pressed her forehead against the cool metal of the 火災, 火 escape absentmindedly twirling a cigarette between her fingers as she grinned foolishly to herself.

“Ah, babe,” a voice called behind her as a rather bemused, hair tousled blonde leaned his bare torso out the window behind her, “It’s one in the morning, in December, and you’re out here freezing your butt off when あなた could be cuddling with me?”
Artemis spun around pressing the feverish skin of her back against the ice cold metal that compromised the 火災, 火 escape outside her bedroom window as she stared at the eighteen 年 old Lucas Story, her boyfriend, who was now running his lust filled eyes along her scantily clad frame as she lent back against the metal a half smirk adorning her features.

“Luke,” she stated firmly, “You’re not supposed to be here.”

“And you’re not supposed to be smoking,” stated Luke gesturing at the cigarette in her hand. They both knew she rarely smoked (he’d only caught her doing it once but his reaction had been so vile and volatile he’d never managed to catch her again.)

“It’s not lit,” stated Artemis bringing it into his line of vision, “I’m just like holding it. Makes me feel bad ass.” Luke snorted and then sneezed.

“Ugh, come inside,” groaned  Lucas wiping at his nose, “Or your お気に入り part of my anatomy will literally freeze off.” Artemis marveled at the amount of innuendo Luke always managed to fit into a single conversation - the boy couldn’t go one sentence without somehow being a flirt with her. She shouldn’t find it so endearing.

“My mom will freak out if she finds あなた here tomorrow.”

“Says she who invited me in.”

“Someone has to 表示する a little self-control in this relationship,” smirked Artemis.

“And あなた expect it to be me?” asked Luke incredulously as if she had just suggested he attempt to go a 日 without food

Artemis sent him this thoughtful look before she pulled a lighter from some hidden pocket in the boy shorts she was wearing and lets the flame lick at the end of the white tube.

“It’s complicity,” stated Artemis offering him the cigarette, “We’re both in this together. あなた might as well ミルク it.” Luke crawled out onto the partially snow covered terrace. Artemis felt a feeling of smugness wash over her as Lucas reached フォワード, 前進, 楽しみにして and plucked the smoking item from between Artemis’s fingers… before flinging it over the 火災, 火 escape.

“HEY!” Clad only in his boxers Luke slid down beside Artemis, slinging an arm around her shoulders. 

“Smoking is bad for あなた Arty.”

She crossed her arms sourly, “I know that, Lucas I just felt like being a little daring あなた stiff.”

“I agree. I am stiff.”

“Ugh,” she groaned pushing against him, “You’re disgusting.”

“Well,” mused Luke interlocking their fingers, “How about we go inside and take a hot shower,” he waggled his eyebrows, “We’ll make some お茶, 紅茶 and then we’ll crawl into your ベッド - wearing pajamas. So that when your mom comes back from her rehabilitation camp tomorrow I can say I stayed because the heating gave out and I was concerned for your safety.”

“I see you’re crafting the perfect alibi.” 発言しました Artemis tiredly leaning her head on his shoulder. “Did the heat give out before または after our first romp?”

“Funny. I would never touch a virginal beauty such as yourself.”

“My mother is not that gullible.”

“Oh,” shrilled Luke picking up the now shivering Artemis and crawling through the window, “I was thinking of the excuse for the team. あなた have to figure yours out all on your own.”

“Meanie.” Artemis muttered. Luke let a soft smile grace his features as he cradled Artemis against his body and she gently sighed against his flesh.

“We’re in this together,” whispered Luke to the lightly slumbering archer, “Always.”
