~Hours later~
"So if you can live anywhere in the world where would you?" Cassandra asked.
Lynn groaned. "Are we really going to do this?"
Irene nodded even though they couldn’t see her as she replied. “It’s the only way we’ll know that were all okay.”
“Why don’t we try finding each other!”
“We are,” Cassandra said. “But right now we need to know if were okay so…”
Lynn sighed in defeat. “Israel.”
“Paris, France!” Irene chirped happily.
“Jamaica or Greece, or China or Japan or-”
“We get it!”
“Oh come in Lynny Poo.”
“It’s Winnie the Poo Cassie!”
“Someone’s wired.”
“It’s just that…” Lynn trailed off looking wildly to both sides. “Did you hear that?”
“Hear what?” Irene asked, alarmed.
“That noise…I gotta go.”
“Wait! Lynn! Your not supposed to-” Irene was cut off when the line went dead. “Lynn! LYNN!”
“Do you think…?”
“No, but right we have to find her.”
“And we’ll do that how?”
“Tracking device, I put it on all your phones so I could know where you are.”
“…”
“Cassandra…”
“Creepy much?”
“For times like this! Now keep on talking while I track her phone.”
“Sure…did you know that apples come in colors of red, green, and yellow! How bout that baby! And counting to ten in Spanish is uno, dos, tres…”
As Cassandra went on in her endless babble Irene worked her way to the location of their good friend, praying that she was okay.
Lynn took three deep breaths as she willed herself not to cry. Crying is weakness, weakness is crying, she chanted.
She moved forward as she peeked at the van, covered with blood, fresh blood. Her breathing came in short little hiccups as she observed the vehicle longer, she could’ve sworn she saw a torn arm.
The vehicle was a van, it’s headlights still on and their doors opened, their wheels had spatters of blood on it and most of the windows were broken.
Little snippets of people’s belongings lie on the ground, broken or fully intact, it didn’t make a difference the creature was here. The noise Lynn had heard was the faint music coming from the radio speakers and she turned it off and listened to the sounds of nature.
Nothing. The creature was gone, and so were the people.
Lynn felt her chest heave slowly and she started to tremble as she tears fell from her eyes. Of all the places, the creature chose here to terrorize.
A noise made Lynn freeze in her tracks, her body feeling cold and alien as she slowly got out of the truck to look at the forest. The noise came again, and Lynn recognized it as feet crunching leaves. She knew she should run but her feet wouldn’t listen, glued to the spot as her heart pounded wildly.
The noise coming closer and closer and closer…
“Lynn!”
“Alex!” Lynn yelled running to him, she hugged him and inspected him to see if he was hurt. “Your okay…not a bruise on you.”
“Did you see it?” Alex asked.
“No, did you?”
“Yep.” Alex said, his voice bitter but afraid. “And it’s coming this way.”
Lynn opened her mouth to say something but a scream cut her voice out. Louder and high pitched than other, and this was a scream of terror.
A girl screaming in terror.
In a flash, Alex and Lynn ran to the voice. And the scene that enfolded in front of them would never erase from their minds.
The creature stood there, standing in front of Cassandra and staring at her blankly as if deciding something.
The creature had pasty white skin, black soulless eyes and a white nightdress that was almost fully red, by blood. It was in the shape of human, a human girl to be exact. But there was something so wrong about it, foreign, that it seemed like a human gone wrong.
"Don't...move...an inch..."
"I don't think that's a problem!" Cassandra yelped, staring into the black gaping hole for eyes of the beast that was about to kill her.
The thing opened it’s mouth letting out a piercing scream, but this one sounded like it came from a animal, or a charging bull. Alex ran toward Cassandra and pushed her down with them out of harm’s way.
The creature jumped to them but Lynn, in an attempt to stop it hit it with a heavy duty branch. The creature screamed in protest as it turned towards her. Lynn stayed rooted to spot, her eyes wide and full of fear. After a half a second Irene appeared with a bucket of water.
“Hey she-devil take THIS!” Irene threw the bucket of water and it hit the creature perfectly.
The creature screamed and tried to pry it off, and Irene turned to a frightened Lynn taking her hand and running as the creature started to chase them saying, “Not a good distraction!”
The four friends ran for there life screaming out to no on in particular. A few minutes later and the dark sky had gone lighter indicating morning was soon to come.
After endless times of the running and chasing, Cassandra had tripped over a branch and before anyone could assist her the creature was on top of her.
The creature roared as Cassandra screamed, the friends tried to stop to reach them but it was no use. The creature reached towards her and with it’s huge claws made an ugly mark on her cheek and throat, huge ugly marks too.
But that was all it got before the sun reached up, and soon enough the creature screamed as it’s skin blistered and soon enough it exploded black slime landing on all the friends.
Cassandra screamed again, but this time she was trying to wipe the black slime off, her face one of disgust but soon one of pain as the slime started to burn them.
The friends screamed and ran towards the lake which was close to them. As one they all jumped into the icy cold water together and the slime dissipated, leaving ugly burned marks on their skin, looking like a bad case of sunburn.
A few feet away they could hear the police sirens growing louder…
