PROLOGUE:
For centuries we lived harmoniously; we had two different worlds. Two very different worlds. Their world was lived freely and without secrecy. In our world, that’s what it was all about, secrecy. Don’t make too much noise, don’t seem so noticeable, and most important, under no circumstances, don’t ever get caught. For a while this secret arrangement worked well for both of our worlds, we both lived in peace, they didn’t bother us and we in return didn’t kill them. My name is Nicholas cross, I was named after my father, so my mother says, but whatever. I don’t really care. Even though I’ve never actually met my father I believe that he was a great man. He died in war a couple of months after I was born; my mother says that he died for us, for me. She told me that he did everything he could to try and survive, she says that he wanted to come back ホーム really bad, and that もっと見る than everything he wanted to watch me grow up to be a man.
Even though my mother was left alone to raise a baby she was able to manage, of course it isn’t that hard to take care of a baby when あなた can use magic. My father was a wizard, he used a lot of magic during the war to survive and to kill enemy soldiers. My mother was a witch, and she used a lot of magic to raise me, to cook, to clean, to travel, and to train me to defend myself. I was born into a harsh world, または so I’ve been told, I don’t see anything so bad about it, but a lot of people tell me that things used to be better. “Before the war, before everything got so messed up” whispered my aunt once as she watched the president give a speech about something important. I hear a lot about how the world used to be such a good and happy place; how everyone got along, humans and wizards would co exist happily and peacefully. But then a couple of years before I was born, everything changed. Some say they changed for the best, that this change was inevitable; it had to happen so our world could progress. But others say that it changed for the worse, that the damage that we have caused, the unbalance we have set upon both our worlds, can never be reversed no matter how much magic we use; it will never be the same again.
IT happened when I was very young; I was just a baby, so I don’t really remember much. What I know is what I hear from the elderly talking about it, they’re not particularly happy with The Change. I can tell because when they talk about it, it’s usually with a constant sneer in their voice. The only other people who really know about The Change are the grownups, like my mother, but they don’t usually talk about it. The only time any of the grownups ever talk about The Change is when they’re drunk, but によって then everything they say is all jumbled together in a weird slur that I can’t really make out much of what they say.
My mother’s job is to take care of the elderly and make sure they don’t suddenly die. I don’t particularly understand her job, when it seems that that’s pretty much everything that their hoping for, to die soon. So why not just let them? I guess it’s a grown up thing. My mother sometimes took me with her to work when I wasn’t in school. Her work is a pretty boring place, a big white house with lots of rooms filled with lots of old people; it has a front yard, and a front porch. Every time I walk in there’s a weird smell of oldness, cigarettes, and alcohol. I don’t like that smell, it makes me feel dirty and gross, and makes my eyes watery. I typically don’t stay inside much because of the smell, I often play outside on the porch and just wait for my mother, but there really isn’t much to play with at an elderly home, they never want あなた to touch any of there stuff. So I would just sit and listen to the elderly talk about The Change, most of them would just say different things like, “damn those vamps, they just had to go and ruin everything for the rest of us!” または like “who in their right mind would want to change the way things were, I mean to go from that, to this! We were so stupid!” This one time this old man who looked like the oldest out of all them said, “gosh darn it! I just wish I could go back and have stopped all this from happening, I’dve march straight into president Scotts office and killed him right then and there, when I was still young!” when the old man named jack 発言しました this, all the rest chuckled in unison, and agreed. Some police guys must’ve not liked what jack 発言しました because they came along and told all the men to stop all there pathetic whining and to go along with their day. After that all the old men spent the rest of their 日 moping around and getting drunk. I stayed on the porch to play, and I fell asleep after a while.

"IDIOT!" the King screeched. Toyo flinched as if the King had struck him.
"DO あなた KNOW WHAT YOU'VE DONE?" he continued to yell angrily.
"The Vampire Society figured out that Aiko was at X Aacademy," Toyo 発言しました quietly. "So I sent her away."
"Without the protection of other vampires," the King hissed. "Suppose they find out where she is now. Who will protect her? She's as good as dead now!" The King sighed irritably and strode towards the door.
"Inform the Society that I will not be available for the 次 year," he 発言しました coldly. "And this time, don't mess it up." The King strode out of the...

I sat on a black, leather couch, starring at the deep blue walls. I was in Alexander’s office, for my appointment. I’d come here straight from the cathedral. My hair was tangled, and messy. I still wore plaid pajama bottoms, and an old, gray tee shirt.
I came to a realization last night. Today, I would make my move. I have done enough to hold my own. Now I could be happy…Maybe.
I debated whether, または not I should tell Alexander about Lucy. Dr. Anozi would’ve liked the idea, but I’m not sure about Dr. Laveney.
    I also...

I ran my hand through my tired hair. I fell asleep on the attic floor last night, after my outburst. I was tired, and ached everywhere. What a night it had been.
I took my weight of the gurney I had been leaning on. I was at the hospital today, to help calm this schizophrenic man. I arrived here at seven this morning, and had to leave before noon. I couldn’t miss Lucy’s appointment at Social Services.
It was eight-thirty now, and I was getting ready to meet my patient. He was in the emergency room, with the doctor. He’d had a nervous breakdown,...

Chapter 17

“Who killed them?!” Koda growled.
Iah was trying to keep Koda calm; from his few encounters with this one he knew anger was Koda’s worst enemy.
“I am not sure…” he replied softly.
“How can あなた not know!?” he screamed, charging after Iah. He dug his fingers into Iah’s chest as they turned to claws, slamming him to the ground, his dark red eyes bored into Iah’s sending dark chills through his mind. “You know everything else but あなた don’t know who killed them?”
Iah cringed in pain, trying to speak.
“I do not know but…I have a feeling who may have done…it”...

I had my first client today. I was to go to a middle school, and talk with an obsessive-compulsive child. Her name was Lucy Taylor. She was starting to be teased によって other students. It was not right; it’s not as if she could help it.
I walked into the main entrance of the school. The halls were the color of dirt, the lockers a mucus green. I saw kids with name brand clothing going down the halls. As I walked toward the big sign that 発言しました Guidance Counselor on the front, I saw a group of kids. They were all against the left side of the hall. They were all dressed in...

Today was my first 日 working for the mental institution. I woke around ten, and got a shower. I dressed in my black pants, shoes, and shirt. Over the シャツ was my white doctor’s jacket. The color white didn’t’ suite me, but it’s not like I hade a choice in wearing it.
I walked to work. The asylum was only three blocks away. As I walked I worried over people criticizing me. Or, making fun of me. What if I treated the wrong patient? What if I messed something up? What if I got lost?
My stomach started to tighten as I thought of the day...

When I woke up, all the windows were covered in snow, surrounding me, isolating me from others. My stomach growled, but I didn't want to leave. I feared if I didn't get a job, I'd lose everything. I got out of the car, still wearing my clothes from yesterday, which was nothing but jeans, converse, and a black カメ neck. Not wanting to waste valuable gas, I walked around town. My stomach growled again, and the thing inside me kicked a series of blows for a couple seconds.

The buildings here were tall, and far away I could see the new, fancy skyscrapers. But here, the buildings were old and...

I stroll down Western Avenue with a blue coin 財布 in my fragile hands. People in every direction as far as the eye can see. Neighbors being neighborly, store keepers selling and people riding the subway to work. Today happens to be a Saturday morning. And as usual, I awaken in the morning at six o'clock and dress. Every Saturday morning is the same old thing. I turn to the corner seeing the store I've been looking for. Roosevelt Island Shop. Yes. Indeed I live on the island of Roosevelt Island. It's very exhilirating to walk in the streets of our state of New York. As I enter the small shop,...

A little while after the holidays, Alice left for California. It wasn't long before I felt the despair of loneliness. Alice was the only one I've really talked to for months. Once she was gone, for the first time in a long time it felt like I had really run away. Not like I had gone to a 安全, 安全です haven, but like I really was in an unfamiliar town.

I went to work , and Alice had only been gone for two days. Work just wasn't fun that day. I found it harder to be nice to rude customers, and the 日 seemed endless.

"Yeah, Alice kind of brings light to this place, huh?" Georgie, the cook asked. I nodded...

About three months have passed, and text messages and calls have stopped. It made me feel sad, but at least I knew they had moved on. At least they weren't devoting their lives to worrying about me.

Then one 日 before work, I had drove to the edge of town to the grocery store. I had paid for all my things, I was leaving when I noticed a bulletin board. It was the ones where missing people were posted. One in particular caught my attention. It was a picture of me from a party, I was all smiles and waving at the camera. Missing: Kodi Hunter. Last seen: **/**/** Hair color: brown. Eye color: brown....

I stood from the brown couch, rubbing my eyes. I had slept on the couch. Grey was mad, and I had been stressed. It was a fight waiting to happen.
Grey had already left for her job at the pharmacy. She was a secretary. Today, I was going to get my license, to practice psychology.
I stood from the couch, I was dressed in last night’s clothes. I’d been at the bar, doing テキーラ shots. I was trying to numb my mind from pop-up questions.
It had been a week since I left the asylum. Since I left Dr. Anozi....

Chapter 13

The hallways of the hospital were dead silent except for the beeping noises of the ハート, 心 monitors from the patient rooms and ランダム coughing. Jax slowly and silently stepped passed each door not wanting to spook anyone and draw attention to him. So far it was working.
Finally, he reached an elevator and pressed the down button, hoping that no one was on the other side of the door.
The door binged loudly as it reached his floor and Jax held his breath waiting to see a doctor または security on the other side. It opened and he let out a huge sigh to an empty elevator.
He stepped inside and...

The late afternoon sun shined on Koda’s back as he headed further west. Soon the sun would be shining in front of him, slowly drifting its way down the western horizon. Night would follow…

The hospital grew quiet as the hours went by. Jax’s pain had subsided but his anger and vengeance did not. With each passing 分 he grew もっと見る restless and ready to leave his hospital bed.
He gently took the oxygen tubes out of his nose then gritted his teeth as he pulled the IV out his hand. Slowly, he moved his feet towards the edge of the ベッド but quickly pushed them back as he saw a nurse...

Sylvia took him to the hospital after his tantrum. He had a fever from it, and he became a little sick from his anger. She was a very good mother and taught her children well, but why would her エンジェル of a son act so violently and moody? The doctor 発言しました it wasn't Sylvia's fault. Luke's real mother drank alcohol while carrying him which that means, Luke has fetal alcohol syndrome. It causes violent mood swings, temper tantrums, and compulsive behavior. Sylvia was worried about him because this can effect his behavior with everyone else around him, and his self esteem. A few days later, Sylvia...

“How could a person do something like this?”

His face burned like something tore the skin off and left it bare to the elements.
A light glowed around his eyes; a strong smell of oxygen filled his nose as he took in a deep breath.
The voices became louder as he became もっと見る awake.

His lungs burned as he tried to breathe the frigid air that surrounded him.
