Piapro and Good Smile Company Sponsor 2016 "Snow Miku" Design Contest
The theme for the contest is "Hokkaido Winter Sports", winner chosen by popular vote
Crypton Future Media, whose headquarters are located in Sapporo, Hokkaido, Japan, has participated in the annual Sapporo Snow Festival since 2010 by designing a “Snow Miku” mascot character based off of their popular Hatsune Miku vocaloid virtual idol.
Now to determine the design for the 2016 “Snow Miku”, Piapro (a division of Crypton Future Media dedicated to promoting crowd-sourced content) and Good Smile Company are sponsoring a contest. The goal is to design not only Snow Miku, but her rabbit companion, Yukine, as well.
The theme of the contest is “Hokkaido Winter Sports”, and contestants are encouraged to incorporate knits caps into their designs. The winner will receive various toys from Good Smile, and their design will be adopted as the official 2016 Snow Miku.
The contest entry period runs from April 16 to May 11, 2015. After the finalists are selected by a panel of judges, the winner will be determined by popular vote via the Niconico streaming service. This event is also scheduled for the month of May.
