Insomniac games. Where to begin with this company, founded in 1994 this company put its name on the map with much loved Spyro the Dragon series, a series of games I have yet to play but don't worry, I'm working on rectifying that problem.
12 years 前 in 2002 Insomniac ロスト the rights to Spyro the Dragon and moved on to a bigger project which has spanned 12 games and a movie that is set to premier early 次 year. This is series is Ratchet and Clank and is one of my favourites, now let's jump into it.

The story begins with the lombax Ratchet fixing his ship on planet Veldin. What's a lombax ? Some sort of cat/rabbit/humanoid thing. He finds out he can't complete his ship as he requires a robot start up ignition thing, guess he should've thought ahead. Somewhere in 宇宙 a bunch of killer robots are being produced and the machine has a spazz moment and creates a little robot XJ04.....HEY SPOILER!!! Okay we'll call him mini guy for now. Mini guy discorvers the villain's evil plot from an infobot and races to a ship and によって some magical chance lands on Veldin. After Ratchet retrieves him from the crash site mini guy shows him the villain's evil plan, Ratchet initailly refuses to help him but agrees when mini guy agrees to start his ship. The two of them take off, mini guy hits the side of the ship and makes a Clank sound and Ratchet decides to name him Clank. あなた find out that Drek is the one Clank wants to stop as he wants to destroy planets and create his own Blarg world as the former was heavily polluted. あなた find out later in the game that Drek polluted his planet for cash and plans to do the same with next. If あなた ask me he's not very nice.

Now onto the gameplay. Ratchet and Clank is platformer so あなた have あなた basic moves such as jumping, moving and crouching. What's interesting about Ratchet and Clank is that combines platforming with action/adventure as あなた are 与えられた a wrench as a melee attack and あなた are 与えられた an arsenal of weapons available to purchase. The weapons are pretty simple in this game as あなた have a basic blaster, bomb glove, flamethrower and boxing グローブ to name a few. Unlike the games あなた can basically go through the game without buying much of the weapons as most enemies, except bosses, can easily be taken down with the wrench. Ratchet also moves a bit slower and a bit もっと見る sluggish compared to the later games which is okay for the first game but after あなた played the others the game kind of loses appeal. Aside from your usual run and gun (Or run and wrench XP) there are a few things to break up the action. You're 与えられた certain gadgets which あなた use to progress in the level. These include the swingshot, which is a staple in the series, which allows あなた to attach to versa targets and スイング over gaps. The trespasser which is a door puzzle and gets progressively もっと見る difficult as the game continues and can get frustrating at times. あなた also have the hydrodisplacer for water puzzles. Also getting bolts is insanely addicting.

The game does a great job of introducing あなた to a lot of quirky characters as あなた go to the different planets. あなた have the almighty plumber who has became an awesome character in the series. あなた get Captain Qwark who's, well he's Captain Qwark come on. あなた also meet Drek's soldiers, Al and his family members and a war general. All these characters have a lot personality and really bring a smile to one's face.

Presentation wise the game looks really good despite being developed 12 years ago. The character モデル aren't as good as the sequels but still looks pretty good especially for the pilot to a series.

There are a couple of negatives I have to say about the game. First of all the lack of strafing in this game despite it's focus on gunplay is pretty annoying. The soundtrack while really good and unique doesn't really have anything that sticks in your head. It's pretty much listen to it and forget basically. Also I have to talk about the HD collection. The HD version game doesn't have the same amount of problems as its sequels but it does have its share. I'll mention the framerate and slowdown as those are the only ones I've encountered. When there's a bunch of enemies on the screen または even if あなた 火災, 火 a bunch of rockets the game slows down a great deal, looking like it's running at 10fps または something. It does get annoying at times

But even with those negatives the game is still solid and a great introduction to a series of games and I forgot to mention RYNO, Rip Ya a New One. An insanely powerful weapon that has become a staple in the series with each main series game getting it's own version.
Ratchet and Clank 1 is a solid platformer and one of Playstation's greatest hits and if あなた haven't already, あなた should probably play it since this is a great series of games. And I'm gonna ラップ this up によって Ripping this game seven New Ones out of ten.
