Bart died 2x14-2x14/16.... i think ?
Anyways usually i don't add this option to make it harder, but in all honesty i can't pick, both of these moments where great for the development of the couple, and i think Blair & Brooke proved themselves as amazing girlfriends being there for there boyfriends!
...but the Hospital scene was amazing:)
"You're not like that anymore. You're strong. You carry people. You carry me.You're becoming a man in a way that your father never was. ...
im changing the iconnn
But I think the fact that he then thanks her for it and when they are laying in his bed together he tells her how much it means to him that she is there for him- shows that she was helping him. She was making him feel comforted and loved because he then tells Brooke how her being there for him has meant "everything." And he even talks about just being there with her is helping him. Her presence was helping him heal. At the beginning of the episode she tells him that if he needs to heal alone, she understands- but if he needs her, she's here. She encourages him to go about his daily routine with going to class, but when he says he can't- she stands with him and watches him take out his aggression. She constantly supports him. And then in the next episode when they go to Rachel's cabin and she pretty much does everything a person can try to do to make someone feel better... she tries to make him smile and laugh (and succeeds), she tries to make him feel wanted (that definitely worked), and she has a meaningful heart to heart with him in which she encourages Lucas to really open up and he ends up sharing stories about Keith and then he shares his concerns about his mom with her and she supports him and gives him advice. She reassures him that things will be ok with his mom and encourages him to have faith.
I think that the best thing you could do to support someone after they lost a love one is to: make them laugh, make them smile, give them the opportunity to break down and cry, encourage them to talk about their deceased loved one, encourage them to talk about their concerns, and really just make them feel loved. Brooke did ALL those things-and did them really well- and obviously really helped Lucas heal... I mean he even says it himself. I really think Lucas would have had a much harder time dealing with Keith's death if Brooke wasn't around at the time.
As for Brooke, she tried but failed to be there for Lucas. That party idea was just an example of how much she didn´t understand what he needed. Her heart was in the right place but I don´t think she really understood him at all.
So, Lucas' initial instinct was to shut Brooke out... and Brooke's initial instinct was for Lucas to just party his way through the pain. Perfect examples of them not really understanding how to let eachother in, and be there for eachother. All my opinion, ofcourse!
But some of the stuff she did was before she even threw the party "At the beginning of the episode she tells him that if he needs to heal alone, she understands- but if he needs her, she's here. She encourages him to go about his daily routine with going to class, but when he says he can't- she stands with him and watches him take out his aggression. "- that was all before the party.
I always saw the party as more of a party for the school- an opportunity to take back the school and make it theirs as Brooke says. But the only thing that is contrary to that belief is in 3x22 when Brooke says she threw the party FOR Lucas. But that just didn't feel right. I don't know if that makes sense... but the party seemed like it was about the students making the high school theirs again after the shooting- and not so much Brooke's way of comforting Lucas. But Brooke does say that in 3x22, so I'm not sure what to think.
But either way I think she made a subtle but strong and meaningful effort to support Lucas before throwing that party... and made a louder and more substantial effort to support Lucas after throwing that party. I also think that part of the reason he may have opened up more to Brooke in the episode when they go to Rachel's cabin is because that's when we really see how the dynamics of the relationship between Lucas and Karen are changing. At that point Lucas wasn't just grieving over the loss of Keith but he was almost grieving over the temporary (but he didn't know it would be temporary) loss of his mother. So I think that took a toll on him and that was part of why he let Brooke be there for him and help him.
Brooke did not do any one if these things, I know she tried but Blair was clearly better at this situation
Just loved how strong Brooke was and stood by Lucas every step of the healing! Even if he was being agressive, sometimes pushing her away she still was there when he needed!
