It was heartbreaking :(

I hate/hated writers for that. :( They're my fave The OC couple and they was AMAZING. Marissa died and then Ryan was with Taylor. :(

They overcame so much... Willow's acceptance of her sexuality, Having Tara feel like a part of the Scooby Gang, Glory feeding off Tara and making her mentally ill, Willow's addiction to magic, Their break up... and to have Tara taken away from Willow permanently was so painful to watch. It made for FANTASTIC television... and Joss Whedon knew exactly what he was doing when he killed off Tara which in turn made Willow go crazy and become evil. It was possibly one of the best BtVS story lines... but that doesn't take away from the fact that deep down I wish Willow & Tara could have had a happy ending (plus happy Willow and Tara means no Willow and Kennedy!)

I was going to add phoebe and cole but they had a good amount of time together even though it should have ended together! There are only two other couples who have had a ver premature end and they are giles and Jenny and Fred and Wes! And how mean is joss i mean he finally gets giles to kinda forgive jenny and go out on a date with her to find her dead in his bed covered in rose petels! Or the same with fred and wes they finally get together and then her body gets taken over by a blue goddess who embodies no emotions! Ok yeah willow and Tara sad too but i kinda hated tara so that wasnt hard for me there~! But its all freaken JOS WHEDON!!!!!! Man he was a evil genuis!

Agree with everything jemgrl said about Willara, they'd be my second choice. But the way that Fred went was almost too painful for me to watch, and Wesley's inability to do anything to help her was unbearable. :( And, obviously, his death later makes me cry buckets.
THEY BOTH SHOULD HAVE LIVED AND BEEN HAPPILY EVER AFTER.

All the rest of my favorite couples with a death in them all have one immortal character in them, so even if the other had lived truly they'd never get a real happy ending:

Buffy&Spike (which maybe shouldn't count because Spike came back, but Buffy doesn't know that...)
Jack&Ianto
Angel&Cordelia
Rose&the real Doctor (I know technically Rose didn't die but it feels like she did because it's absolutely impossible for the Doctor to ever see her again)

And to add to the list of couples with two mortals characters, I also would've liked to have Xander&Anya end up together. :'(

Oh wait im also angry at Josh Swartz for taking Marissa away from Ryan as well!

I am a little older so there have been a few couples. One who even ended only because one of them died in real life. They were an epic couple. "Mac and Rachael" on "Another World" look them up. I picked Marissa and Ryan because I do not think that any couploe speaks to every walk of life like this one.

This was SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO heartbreaking! I really wanted them to end up together and defintely have a happy ending!

I couldn't choose between Chris/Jal and Ryan/Marissa for awhile... But I've loved Ryan/Marissa for much longer so I chose them. =/ these are just sad.

i realy wanted to have a chanse, they never even had a chanse, then she died for nothing. also karen & keith,as far as ryan & marissa goes i was realy glad that,that selfsh drunk/drug addictt who doesn't appreciate an amazing boyfriend(ryan), a wonderfull friend(summer), a great mother with little flase, was gone i didn't want her to (even thought i hate her)i wanted her to go stay with her dad in the boat,but it worked out just for me because she was gone.

and plz don't tell me they were a good couple, because they weren't,i mean ok they were cute at first but then marissa just ruined every thing, with her drinking problmes, her mom, her wanting to hae two boyfriends at the same time, belive me if they were to be together again,she will just fined another way to ruied them, because that she does and ryan would have lived in misry

I added Izzie&Denny, cause they were the first couple that popped into my mind, when I saw the question, but when I thought about it, I think it's actually good they didn't end up together. I'm sorry Denny died but Izzie wasn't mean to be with him. So I picked Phoebe&Cole. I really wanted them to end up together. Screw Coop.
