Alan Parker’s BAFTA-winning musical comedy film The Commitments is returning to the big screen after 25 years!

On 10 March, Dublin's finest mix of gritty soul and irresistible Irish charm will be featured in authentic pub and music venue The Actress and Bishop at the Jewellery Quarter. The evening starts at 18:00 with a special Irish buffet, followed by the film screening, a special guest appearance and a live band performance by The Dirty Old Folkers to kick-start the St. Patrick’s Day festivities.

Based on Irish writer Roddy Doyle's novel, The Commitments tells the story of working class Dubliners who form “the world’s hardest working soul band”. Timeless hit songs featured in the film’s smash-hit soundtrack include Mustang Sally, Take Me To The River, Try A Little Tenderness, In The Midnight Hour and many more.

In partnership with Birmingham City University and mac Birmingham, this one-time, UK-exclusive screening is part of mac’s "mac in the city", which brings some of the best offsite events to the city. Tickets include the Irish buffet, a drink, the film screening and live band performance.
