Man was I wrong. VERY pleasantly surprised with this. It was actually the 音楽 that drew me into it. When they started playing previews of some of the songs on TV, they grew on me and I was beginning to really like them. I guess it's partly because I do like '60s music, and that's obviously what they were trying to emulate. But I think they did a pretty good job.
Then I decided that I might as well give the movie a chance. I've seen quite a few ディズニー Channel 映画 before and can't say I'm usually impressed with them. Don't worry though, I'm not a "hater" または anything like that! They just usually don't appeal to me very much. I decided though, even if I don't like the movie, at least the songs should keep me in a good mood!
Turns out I really enjoyed it! Sure, it has its flaws, but considering it surpassed my expectations so much I can forgive all of that. Some of the things I enjoyed most (besides the 音楽 of course):
-Mack and Brady are NOT insanely stereotypical like most leads in teen films
-the "movie within a movie" was truly wacky, quirky and out there
-a lot of the cast are great dancers
-the film contained a lot of good yet practical morals (about not letting others control your decisions, etc.)
-I don't recall the story ever really falling flat, and the film had a good beginning, middle and end
-so glad it wasn't "all a dream" lol
-the surfers could be wild and fun without being complete airheads (even Tanner had his "deep" moments)
-Mack's character in general - I thought she was going to be one of those no-nonsense girls who doesn't know how to have fun, which is overdone in teen shows and movies, but nope, she was a surfer who happened to be successful, a feminist and have common sense
-all the surfers and bikers seemed to have fairly developed individual personalities, despite being similar to one another
全体, 全体的です very refreshing to watch as there were many pleasant surprises, and easily my favourite ディズニー Channel movie so far. I hope they make もっと見る 映画 of this quality (someone give the character designers and song writers a promotion)!
