There where only eight chaos emeralds left after that, and then a giant 象 thing fused with the eighth エメラルド after a freak accident. He was destroyed, along with that emerald. The other seven have grown so old, they can't be destroyed. Then the echidnas studied the emeralds, and found the ultimate power.
