'Hey-um. Mom, dad. My cousin's ハムスター died.' and look down sadly.
They wont think it was your fault! Would you, if u had a kid and it's cousin's ハムスター died?
If they DO think it's your fault (which is highly unlikely), then say 'It wasn't. I swear. I fed it and gave it water. I looked after it.'

How is it hard to tell you're parents that you're ハムスター died?
Just do it and get it over with.
