Pretty Little Liars Review: Old Habits Die Hard

Pretty Little Liars Season 5 Episode 5, A is up to his/her old tricks again...

Pretty Little Liars Season 5 Episode 6 may not have been the most exciting (except for that scene towards the end) installment, but it pushed each character into the necessary direction for the rest of the season. A series occasionally has to make a "setting things up" episode to get all the pieces in place.

Hanna and Ali are going to have a conversation during "Run, Ali, Run."

Each of the liars has had trouble dealing with Alison\'s return, as we saw in last week\'s episode. And now we get to see just how difficult it is for them to escape those old habits and destructive patterns.

Hanna is the most clear example, as she decides to help Alison leave Rosewood, and ultimately realizes she was only trying to help herself. Caleb points out that Hanna never feels great about herself when Alison is around, but that feeling won\'t go away just because Alison does.

I definitely sympathize with her and I\'m thinking everyone\'s life would be a little better, albeit a little boring, with Ali gone.

  I can\'t help but be completely on Team Haleb here. Travis is nice and all, but even when Caleb is being all moody and distant, he still sees Hanna better than anyone else. That\'s why they work so well as a couple. Here\'s to hoping he snaps out of his funk soon.

Emily fell deep into the mistakes of her past when she started making out with Alison - and she continues her role as Alison\'s protector this week, fending off an attacker and badgering names out of Paige. But her sleepless night next to Alison indicates that she\'s grown weary of this role yet again, so maybe change is just around the corner for her.

And Aria of course has "slipped" up with Ezra a few times. She knows he did a horrible thing when he betrayed her, but she can\'t help but miss him and their relationship. It won\'t be long until they are seriously back together now that they are "working" on those files together and she\'s being planted in Radley as a spy.

I do think it\'s sad that Aria can\'t grow past her relationship with this man who lied to her and hit on a girl he knew was both  his student and a teenager. Creepy!

And if we\'re being picky, I\'m not too happy about the way the Shana reveal is being handled. Just like the Toby reveal and the whole EzrA thing, Shana is yet another red herring. Over and over again, the show sets up certain characters as A... only to retconn or explain away the whole thing. Fans now never fully trust that anyone revealed as A is actually A.

It\'s not that surprising really. I mean, who really thought Aria was right when she said it was finally over?

The real A is becoming extremely violent, and I can\'t wait to find out about Bethany Young and her connection to Alison and possibly A. Clearly, Bethany

knew Mrs. DiLaurentis from her time at Radley, but it wasn\'t Bethany who buried Mrs. Di and took a video of the crime to send to Alison.

Does that indicate a connection between them?

Now, the Shana thing hasn\'t really gone away. Lt. Tanner is back - and, boy, is she asking all the right questions. I\'ve always thought she was the most shrewd of all the police officers paraded through Rosewood (even more so than the corrupt ones).

Tanner knows Ezra, Alison and really the other Liars are all hiding something and it won\'t be long until she finds out something to link Shana\'s murder to the group.

On tonight\'s Tyrant, it\'s the 20th anniversary of a chemical attack. Will Jamal follow in his father\'s footsteps and use force against his people? Or will he find a new way?

On tonight\'s Covert Affairs, Annie believes it\'s her last night on the job. Will she be kicked out of the CIA?

Seems to me that the person who attacked Ali was a guy but the person who wrote the note on the flowers was a girl. Could be these are just A\'s goons doing his/her dirty work. Or it could be Mona pretending to be A (if she\'s really not A to begin with) and trying to scare the crap out of Ali and the girls. What\'s worse than death, Spenser asked? How about living your life in constant fear!

Another great episode!I said it last week and will say it again, I am a huge Caleb fun BUT I do like Travis too. If Rosewood would not have been cancelled then they would still have her with Travis. I just would like to have seen Hanna be with Travis a little longer. I guess it just goes to prove that Hanna was only with Travis because Caleb was gone.

I wonder why Eddie gave Erza that drawing, was it because he knew he would give it to the girls? I hope Aria can find answers at Radley.

Personally I like Aria and Ezra together. Every character on this show has done questionable things and there is nothing wrong with Aria giving Ezra another chance!

I felt bad for Spencer, even though she knows her dad is hiding something she still does not want to see her parents get a divorce. I found it odd that there was no Toby in this episode, why was Spencer not with him? Caleb was.

I still say that Ali is using Emily and does not really like her. That was an intense seen when A was strangling Ali with the scarf, Emily was able to hit A, a couple of times but of course A got away.

At the end is sure looks like this A or an A minion is a female, appeared to be tall and skinny...Sydney perhaps?

This episode was quite better than the previous episodes. It had some edge and slight progress. Loved the Hanna vs Emily, there are a lot emotions build up and these girls have to start letting them out. I hope if nothing the Bethany Young story will come to an end till mid-season.

i think the writers are getting ahead of themselves and making it up as they go along the because past seasons doesnt make sense with the most recent reveals - season 1 was the best there were shocks every episode and these past few seasons are putting off big shocks and giving us little nothing reveals that dont even add up to anything come on most of it is red herrings give us back the reason we loved the show in the 1st place

What was the reason we loved the show? Didn\'t the first season have red herrings? We just didn\'t know we\'d only ever have red herrings. I\'m having a really hard time enjoying it lately and I\'d love someone to tell me why they do ( or did).

I\'m glad Aria has been able to forgive Ezra. None of these characters seem like real teenagers. Aria is practically living on her own. It\'s also great to finally have Ezra in on the whole A storyline. Now he seems much more involved and invested in his relationship with Aria and it should make it easier. I hope to see this new friend with benefits relationship continue.

Why is there a sudden interest in Shana\'s death now? Why weren\'t the police asking questions when it actually happened. I still don\'t trust Ali.
