being able to see sunsets, food! lol, tv, movies but with captions cuz u could still watch it just not as easy... i had a dream about being deaf in one ear.. it was not fun!! plus if ur blind u could bump into things and step on ur cat or someones toes!! lol but i would rather be deaf than blind
You know, I have thought about this before and I would have to say that I would reather be deaf than blind. I don't like not being able to see what's happening around me. Darkness is very suffocating to me, so I think I could handle being deaf better than being blind. And I would miss watching movies and TV.
I wouldn't handle not being able to see anything, or see people grow older and change.
I guess I would music alot but total darkness is pretty hard to contemplate.
I couldn't live without reading books. And while it suck watching movies, I could watch foreign films or English films (with subtitles) and still enjoy it visually.
I'm with Cressida...books are my lifeline. I speak some sign language and could learn to speak fluently, if necessary. I would miss music, but Beethoven wrote beautiful music after going deaf...he could hear the music in his head. I think I'd still be able to hear the music I know (in my head), and the cheesy music I write. All in all, I think I'd miss sight more.
Besides, Braille's more challenging to learn than sign language.
I wouldnt like to be blind, I would want to see what I was doing and where i was going. I would miss the sight of all the colors and the faces of the people that I love. I would have to be deaf too because there are all those sounds that I would miss but I think that I would like that just a little better.
My son maybe partially deaf in one ear(having to go to an audiologist, for further testing)...I guess deaf because seeing things would be a better of the 2
I could try to lipread and on movies and stuff I could just put up subtitles.. but unable to see would be terrible, I don't think life would be the same expierence at all.
If you are blind, you can imagine what everything looks like. but imagine if you were deaf, you can see everyone and see their mouths moving but not be able to hear them. You may be able to sign (which I can) but it's not the same as being able to hear all the different fluctuations in the voice and the different ways people talk.
