Below is a review of "THE BLACK DAHLIA", the 2006 adaptation of James Ellroy's 1987 novel:

"THE BLACK DAHLIA" (2006) Review

Judging from the reactions among moviegoers, it seemed quite obvious that director Brian DePalma’s adaptation of James Ellroy’s 1987 novel had disappointed them. The ironic thing is that I do not share their feelings.

A good number of people – including a relative of mine – have told me that they had expected "THE BLACK DAHLIA" to be a docudrama of the infamous 1947 murder case. Others had expected the movie to be an epic-style crime drama similar to the 1997 Academy...

"MIDDLEMARCH" (1994) Review

Many years have passed since I first saw "MIDDLEMARCH", the 1994 BBC adaptation of George Eliot's 1871 novel. Many years. I recalled enjoying it . . . somewhat. But it had failed to leave any kind of impression upon me. Let me revise that. At least two performances left an impression upon me. But after watching the miniseries for the 秒 time, after so many years, I now realize I should have paid closer attention to the production.

Directed によって Anthony Page and adapted for テレビ によって Andrew Davies, "MIDDLEMARCH" told the story about a fictitious Midlands town...

"FROST/NIXON" (2008) Review

Beginning on March 23, 1977, British journalist David Frost conducted a series of twelve (12) interviews with former U.S. President Richard M. Nixon, in which the former commander-in-chief gave his only public apology for the scandals of his administration. Some 29 years later, Peter Morgan’s play – based upon the interviews – reached the ロンドン stage and later, Broadway, with rave reviews. Recently, Ron Howard directed the film adaptation of the play, starring Frank Langella as Nixon and Michael Sheen as Frost.

I first became interested in Nixon and the Watergate...

"PERSUASION" (1971) Review

This adaptation of Jane Austen’s 1818 novel turned out to be the first of the old Jane Austen テレビ adaptations that the BBC aired during the 1970s and 80s. Produced and directed によって Howard Baker, and adapted によって Julian Mitchell; this two-part miniseries starred Ann Firbanks and Bryan Marshall.

As many ファン of Austen’s novel would know, "PERSUASION" told the story of Anne Elliot, the middle daughter of a vain and spendthrift baronet, who finds herself reunited with her former finance, a Naval officer of lesser birth named Frederick Wentworth. Eight years before...

RELEASE OF OLD BBC PRODUCTIONS

Since the release of the 1975 miniseries "NORTH AND SOUTH" in 2013, I have found myself wondering about other BBC productions from the 1960s and 1970s.

I recently discovered that the 1996 miniseries, "THE TENANT OF WILDFELL HALL" was the 秒 adaptation of Anne Brontë's novel. The first was a 1968 miniseries that starred Janet Munro, Bryan Marshall and Corin Redgrave. I also discovered that the 1999 miniseries, "WIVES AND DAUGHTERS", was not the first adaptation of Elizabeth Gaskell's novel. The BBC aired an earlier adaptation in 1971 that starred Zhivila Roche.

Does anyone know how to contact the BBC? I would like them to consider releasing these two productions in the near future.
