guys, I appreciate feedback and comments but please watch the profanity...and rahma, s1 was different. peyton was scared of opening up to luke & she quickly realized the error of her ways and confessed to luke that she was ready to have all the things he described. but in this instance, as kathiria was saying, peyton was just thinking responsibly. I don't think she was really afraid. she said she wanted to wait a year seeing as how she wasn't at the point in time of her life for settling down and considering that they were both 19, it was a little soon for her...and by the way peyton didn't turn down luke's proposal...she just wanted to wait abit longer before they did decide to get engaged...and luke took it as a no and wouldn't listen to peyton when she said she didn't say no. lol, what a doufas.

I'm sick of arguing with ppl who not only don't understand the show, but they bend facts and OTH history to support their lame arguments against peyton/leyton. peyton just said to wait a year or so before getting engaged. luke's the one who overreacted, "moved on" with lyndsey and now he expects peyton not to move on (he proved that when he acted all possessive and said those things the way he did about the bartender)... luke's the idiot; not peyton.

well i really dont think the outbursts are called for, but inywayz.... to the question.... i believe lucas made the right choice because i really dont think they were strong enough to last that long. im not saying peyton wasnt responsible in what she decided. but i really dont think she should have turned down the engagement the way she did. i know she didnt say no, but i just think she should have accepted the ring and they could have been engaged. besides that, when she said she couldnt leave her job AND he couldnt leave his, i thought that was wrong. i understand her decision to stay with her dream, but its lucas' decision to stay with the job he had or not. he obviously didnt stay there anyway, and his real dream was to pursue writing, which he can do from anywhere. i do agree that he probably would have eventually cheated on her with lindsey anyway cuz he does seem to mess up like that a lot. but i dont think it will last with lindsey either.

christine, luke couldn't have pursued his writing from anywhere cause of the basketball coaching position he was offered in tree hill. that's why peyton said that he'd resent her if he moved right away for her. watch the scene again. and an engagement usually involves discussing dates and working toward the event. peyton didn't have that mindset yet. she was still pursuing her dream. she didn't say wait a year then i'll be ready to get married, she said let's wait a year and see what happens. It's pointless to get engaged if you're not ready to get married/work toward a date/settle down. at least that's my opinion or belief, heh.

well, i understand he loved his coaching job. but i really see him with a dream for writing more than that job. so, if you look at it from that perspective, yes he could pursue his writing from there too. he didnt even stay to coach at the college anyway. and as far as the engagement, you dont have to work toward a specific date or anything when you get engaged. its really nice to just be able to be with that person. inywayz.... im not gunna get into a huge thing about it. i was just stating my opinion on the situation. there are many perspectives to this.

sometimes I just can't stand Lucas... but they'll obviously work it out eventually so ... still it was weird how he just left, that's not something he would do.. :S

They are only 19, it's kind of early.

christine, I hope I didn't make you feel like your opinion was "uncalled for". You have the right to your own opinion. I know that luke didn't end up doing college basketball coaching, but he needed to discover that path for himself (so he doesn't look back wondering what if). He "did" end up coaching for the tree hill ravens for a living though. Yeah, luke's next dream was writing which technically he could've done anywhere, but basketball will always be with him and he had connections back in tree hill that enabled him to coach in THH. and I know some ppl who get engaged don't work towards a date or start planning, but maybe that's how peyton saw it. peyt and luke just weren't on the same page...so there's another perspective, heh. we'll agree to disagree though :)

ok. this is a pick guys. put your opinions about it. its not for arguing. just write eachother if you have a problem. anyway, abs07, i do agree with you about the other perspective. peyton and lucas didnt seem to understand eachothers point of view. i do believe that he might have reacted quickly. they should have sat down and talked about it and tried to see eachothers side of things. they may not have broken up if they had just talked about it.

he didn't even need to "endure the separation"...they couldve continued down their path for a little bit longer. he just had to hold out till peyton was ready (not just her heart-because i know how much she loves luke, but her job and future-because as haley said herself that shes worried that she missed out on stuff because she got married so early). i think the only problem was that neither lucas nor peyton knew what each other were thinking. if lucas had been less impulsive about asking peyton to marry him and had planned it out so that it was at a point where their relationship was at a high point, then she might have said yes. i think that the timing in their lives was wrong, but they shouldn't have to part ways because of that and he should be man enough to understand that she loved him and still saw a future for them, just that he had to wait a LITTLE bit longer (like he told her that he'd "wait forever if he had to").
