New ONCE UPON A TIME Clip Teases a New ‘Dark One’

Okay, maybe not wicked (that’s already been done, remember?), but something interesting is definitely coming sometime during the latter half of season 4 of

After ABC released the newest promo for the second half of this season–which returns Sunday, March 1st–people started wondering: is it possible for Emma to join the dark side? Take a look at the video below and decide for yourself.

Yep, that definitely is the series’ savior standing side by side with the likes of Maleficent, Ursula and Cruella de Vil. After what she’s been through, and her criminal past, it wouldn’t be all that surprising for the blonde hero to be corrupted, especially if Rumpelstiltskin is involved.

The keyword (or name) here of course as always is Rumpelstiltskin, the narrator of the promo and a kind of/sort of villain character who teeters back and forth between his lust for power and love for his family. In addition to gracing us with a maniacal laugh at the end, Rumple also reveals that there are three ways to corrupt a hero and three ways to tarnish a savior.

He also mentions that the only way for the three new villains (Ursula, Cruella and Maleficent) to find their happiness, is to find somebody whose soul can be molded, whose heart is brimming with blackness and is ready to walk on the dark side. While the subject of the dark one’s spiel could have remained a mystery, we also get to see a devlish grin from Miss Emma Swan. Could it be? Will she turn?

We don’t know for sure yet, but I wouldn’t put it past the fairy tale trickster Rumpelstiltskin to find a way to curse Emma and force her over to the dark side, especially if he has some sort of deal worked out. Judging by the way this show works, he probably does… but remember, everything comes at a price.
