It's all a trick to confuse people. He never jumps to them.
In the trailer you can see clearly that while Bella is with Laurent she has a backpack and some light colors in her clothes, but when Jacob enters in scene, Bella doesn't have her backpack anymore and her clothe's colors are more like black and brown, so that's why ;)
