When Papillon, Louis, and Andre got to the island, it was dark. The island was part of a leper colony, for treating ponies with leprosy.

Papillon: *Gives bribed guard three thousand dollars, then gets off the ボート with Louis, and Andre*
Bribed Guard: Oh, one もっと見る thing. *Gives パピヨン three rifles, and ammo* Use them wisely.
Papillon: *Gives rifle, and ammo to Louis, and Andre* Thanks.
Bribed Guard: *Rides away in his boat*
