He probably has his arm around your shoulder to comfort あなた cause he doesnt want あなた to be sad for him. It makes him sad for you. He wants あなた to live on with your life and be thankful that あなた are still alive. What about your family and friends? Im sure they dont want あなた to be so depressed over his loss.
